I 've got this graph from PT3 (Expected Value - All In Performances)

I really don't know if it is good or not, i don't understand it.

What I think it is (2 options):

1. Blue line tell me how much I would have won if played the hands corectly, green line tell me actual winnings. So basically it tells me i played ok. (this one is the good one)

2. Lines are showing me the same thing as above but that means that I got lucky and ppl payed me when i had good cards. (this one is the bad one).

My understanding of Ev is thusly.

lets say all the chips go into a pot and the pot is 20$. (assume no rake).

Lets say you have an 80% chance to win and a 20% chance to lose.

80% of the time you get 20$.
20% of the time you get 0.

If probability worked out perfectly in the long run you would get these results 5 times.

win 20
win 20
win 20
win 20
win 0.

so for 5 times you won 80$ or if you take 80$ and divide it by 5 you get 16$ per time.

You EV is 16$. It accounts for the fact that sometimes when you're ahead, you're opponent will suck out and sometimes when you're behind, you will suck out. Factoring in this reality is necessary for accurate evaluation of the profitability of your play.

However this is only what I THINK EV is. I think I've discovered a glitch in PT, however, it not being a glitch means my explanation is wrong.

Something to note here is that EV is ONLY calculated when all the chips go in before the river. There has to be a non zero probability of winning or losing after the chips go in, for there to be some ev/money won disparity.

There are a few cases where EV is not calculated correctly in PT3, but it will give you a general indication of how lucky or unlucky you've been.
The EV functionality will be updated so that the calculations are done at import time and stored in the database, and at that time everything will be as accurate as possible.
