Error Connecting to Default Database

Im running v3.00 beta 30.8
when i open PT i get a pop up asking me to select a default database and telling me that there is an error connecting to default database. It has both of my PT3 databases on the list but they are greyed out and im unable to select them.
The current database i use is on the list and is set to default/active altho it is also greyed out and i cant select it.
It worked fine yesterday and the only thing that is different since then is i upgraded to IE explorer 8 since my last session.
Im a complete moron when it comes to software so if this is a super easy fix im sorry for wasting time but i cant figure it out
edit: ive turned off the firewall also and this has no effect.

Please disregard the above, i managed to follow some instructions in the thread on Pokertracker.com to allow things through the firewall and now it is working.

im having this problem! also will not let me create new database gives me password problems ! firewall off
