i just updated the latest beta version and get this on startup:

Error connecting to default database.
Please select one of the valid databases below or create a new one.
Note: It may take time for the Database List to fully populate.

then i cant seelct any of the databases that already exist and it forces me to create a new one.

then this error comes up when i click new:

Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT3_2009_10_28_172516
Reason: Unable to login to database (template1). Reason: server closed the connection unexpectedly This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request

and i cant do anything, im in a continuous loop. and have to exit poker tracker.

Brilliant!!!!!

Please uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL as per this guide and make sure to install 8.3.8 and that should fix things for you.

i followed the instructions, disabled account control, uninstalled postsql, went to the website, went to download page, was linked to this as the download link: http://www.enterprisedb.com/products...oad.do#windows

run the installer, got some fatal error through the install when installing a "module" i think. but i think most of it installed since i see postgressql 8.4 on my vista start menu.

im still getting the same errors with poker tracker. everything was working fine for over 6months before yesterday when vista did an upgrade.

Not sure what to do now.

edit: i have gotten it to work again but i cant load up any of my old databases, i had to create a new one.

are all my old hh files that i imported in program files -> pokertracker 3 -> processed

if i import all of these will i get all my old HH back?

Normally after those sorts of upgrades, rebooting is sufficient to get your database back up and running . . . if you have all of your hands, likely the easiest thing to do now is just to reimport them; a manual import of the processed directory will likely be sufficient.

i just want to make a complaint because. i am so ****ing tilted i tilted off like 5 buyins today because i still cant get it working.

now i finally got it working and spent 4 hours importing over a million hands back into the database. now the hud is not working. it is freaking importing the hands and hud is not showing up.

tbh i am beyond tilted, i spend a day of my life doing this ****ing **** trying to sort it all out and its still not ****ing working.

like, my hourly rate is $120 this year. i just lost 8 hours of my day. most of it waiting to start a new database and adding all my hands. not to mention all this **** with uninstalling/installing postsql.

the freaking thing was working fine yesterday until ****ing windows mother ****ers try to install an update. im beyond tilted. i lost 8 hours today, 5 buyins. im beyond tilted. its still not working. WHY IS MY HUD NOT WORKING?????????? wHY?

i can not put it into words how frustrated i am, im sure the 2 broken glasses and hole in the plasterboard where i punched it can show that im ****ing angry.

i apologise for all those ******ed posts. u have to understand nothing is going my way.

hud is still notworking for no apparent reason and pt3 is importing hands still

The postgres user is a necessary part of installing postgres.
If you want to hide the Postgres user from the login window, you can do that by following these instructions.

If you can't get the HUD working after reading the PT3 HUD FAQ please report your problem so that we can investigate further.

RiverFlush21, did you ever get a solution to this problem? I just had a Windows Update this morning and now my PT isn't working with the same "Unable to Connect" issue.
11-17-2009 , 05:40 PM
Sir Poko,

Have you rebooted your computer since the upgrade? That has fixed this issue for a number of people.
11-17-2009 , 10:56 PM
It updated as the computer was starting up so I haven't thought to restart. I'm shutting down in a bit and I'll update this tomorrow if the problem is solved.

Thanks for the tip!
