I have been using pokertracker for a good while but I only ever collect data when I am actually playing at the table.

I know there are a lot of players who datamine tables while they are not even playing.
How do they do this?
Is this permitted by the sites?...I am thinking no.
Are there safe ways to data mine?.

What is everyone opinion of data mining?, fair or not?
Seems unfair to me, but hey, if others are doing it I wont be left with a disadvantage.

Pokerstars does not allow datamining, but most other sites allow it. Most don't write hand histories themselves for observed hands, though. Full Tilt is the obvious exception, as they write hand histories for observed hands, for most other sites you will need a 3rd party datamining application.

All of the data mining programs seem to be centred towards hold em. Are there any that will work from PLO, sepecifically on Stars or Titan?

Unfortunately I don't know of any off the top of my head, but that doesn't mean they're not out there . . .
