Hi all, got a bit of a situation maybe you can help me with.

I got an offer from a casino which requires I cash my tax refund check at the casino cage. My refund check is for $35,000. I don't need that much to gamble with and would rather not be carrying around that much either in Vegas or through the airports. I live in Philly and my two current banks don't have branches in Vegas. The casino already said they can't just give me a check, which is understandable since the idea of the promotion is they hope players will blow that refund check gambling.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get that cash deposited or at least turn it into a check?

What banks are in Vegas? Are there any bank branches on the strip?

I really don't have much of a clue about this type of thing. Any help would be greatly aprreciated.

There are plenty of banks in Vegas, especially downtown. I would cash the check, take a taxi to a bank and open up a national savings account (i.e. Wells Fargo in downtown) and deposit as much as you don't want to spend.

The casino won't give you a cheque now because they want the money to be available hoping you are a degenerate but they will give you a cheque when you're ready to check out and go home so you really only need a place to store the funds. I'd just use the hotel room safe but if you don't feel comfortable ask the casino about what they offer in secure storage.

Wells Fargo is probably your best bet. They have branches everywhere...

If you're going to be at the Rio, get a security box. They cost $25 and require a $100 deposit.

Lots of Bank of America around also. Just open an account with a bank that is in Vegas, and also near you. Any bank will be happy to open an account for you to put large sums of money in.

Yea, but that damn key is really easy to lose. I'm just assume it costs $125

Why wouldn't you just put the key on your regular keychain?

Thanks for the info everyone. I guess the plan is going to deposit the money at BOA of Wells Fargo. I searched a bit and didn't see any on the strip. Can anyone confirm there arent any banks on the strip?

There are no banks on the strip

There is a small Wells Fargo branch in the airport terminal. You'd want to call the branch obviously, and arrange for any kind of sizeable withdrawal.

also keep in mind that you want to time your action of events pretty precisely, not that your standing around waiting for a cab with 35k on you. ( however most likely nothing will happen, but you never know )

there's BOA on spring mountain rd near china town.

Also a Wells Fargo normal-sized branch on the corner of Arville (2 or 3 blocks west of the freeway) and Flamingo. Basically 3 blocks from the Rio.
