My guess would be the NFR first, Nascar second, and CES a distant third.

Am I way off base on this?

Not a convention, but over Thanksgiving weekend there is a big Pop Warner football tourney. The families usually stay at the off strip properties and the football dads populate the poker rooms at places like the South Point and Orleans. In general, they suck.

My guess is that the cash games during Super Bowl week and March Madness are very juicy. During those times, everybody is in Vegas to party.

During conventions, people have to work during the day and usually can't stay up all night.

March Madness, just the opposite. The tables are packed with 2p2'ers looking for fish. NFR, they don't throw money around on the poker table when they could be giving it to strippers instead. They don't play unless they're at least semi-serious. It's the WSOP. Most of the people there for the WSOP don't play in the WSOP.

I just dont think ppl would go to the WSOP just to rail. Without playing the smaller events and thats were you are going to the donks from.

I've gone to Vegas for extended periods the last two summers during WSOP without playing any events. Lots of people do. There are TONS of other tourneys going on in town (many with far better structures than WSOP) and lots of poker action everywhere.

But....it's not a fishfest. I had thought it would be my first trip out there for WSOP and was quickly disabused of that notion. Yes of course there are fish and action-packed games and it's still a great time to be there, but you're also going to get the table like the one I vividly remember from one session in 2/5 NL at the V- nine guys under 25, all from Western Europe/Scandinavia, all heavy internet players. TABLE CHANGE! Lots of those guys in town as well.

Even before the Caesars and Venetian events there were plenty of bad players. If anything, more than the last couple of years. They come to stargaze, bother tv pros, lose a buy-in in the Amazon Room cash games, play in 1 satellite, etc. But the guys that pack the 1/2 and 1/3 games are not playing the WSOP events, the smallest of which is a $1500 entry. I doubt most of them could put together $1500 if they had to.

Not in the past couple of years. Every table I had been at sucked. Nobody hardly looked up from the table to look at the tv's. The only drinking that was going on was Strawberry Julius' or occasionally a beer sipped at for hours. Plus the rooms are expensive and the traffic sucks. The only reason I'll ever go back for March Madness is to watch the basketball.

I'd say NFR, WSOP, CES, Nascar

The WSOP are the best donks with money though. They bust from events and play cash games all over the strip still wearing their entry bracelet. Its like a tag saying "i give away cash" because they play tournament style in cash games which is absolutely hilarious. They get slightly short stacked and start pushing with any random hand they think is good and push on any/all flopped draws.

ConExpo, it's every three years (it was last year). I was in town that time for a different convention. Don't recall poker being any better or worse than any other time.

I'll add the jewelers to the list. Nothing like sitting at a table where three guys are all trying so hard to sell watches to each other or the table that they forget to pay attention to poker:

"List on this is $11K but I can let you have one for $7K"
"Take a look at mine... This retails for $21K but I can make you a deal."
"This one here... this is a $35K watch but I'd give it up for $20K."
(and then a voice at the end of the table says "$200" and puts out a couple stacks of red).
"Wait... what? 200? ok... I call... Now if you can't afford that $20K, there's another model just like this one with about half the diamonds that I can let go for $12K..."
