Since the LHE games have died at the Mirage, it looks like we're going to book a room at the Venetian this trip. Since we've never stayed there before, which are the choice rooms and any other tips or suggestions?

dont let them upgrade you to the rialto suite. its the same as the standard room, just more useless space and an extra tv. def not worth it at all IMO. otherwise have fun and make sure you get a belgian waffle and the buffalo chicken sandwich at Grand Lux !!!!!!!!!

If you guys are staying in the next month use the DeepStack Venetian Code if you are playing in an event.

If you aren't, you can get the 'poker room rate' for 4 to 6 hours per day of play. You and your friend/spouse can add your hours together. They've been running some a lot more lower limit games lately too.

2nd the grand lux buffalo sandwich.

Grand Luxe cafe is awesome!

They have a poker rate where all rooms in the hotel are at a reduced rate if your room plays 6 hours of poker per day. Phone them and ask them what it is it may have changed since I was there last.

Book a room at the Palazzo over the Venatian. Considered the same property, connected by an atrium. It's a little bit of a walk to the V poker room but well worth it. The rooms IMO are a lot nicer then the V. If you stay at the Palazzo ask them for a room on the 3rd floor, they are all hospitality suites on that floor and have a patio with furniture and usually a fireplace.

It's a lesser version of Cheesecake Factory (from that company). If you've had Cheesecake Factory, you've had Grand Lux.

Ditto, Palazzo's better. Newer, nicer rooms and I also dig that it's much less of a clusterf*ck.

Unless you are playing the VDS events.
I heart being able to run to the room and drop/blaze/refresh on break. The Palazzo is too far a sprint.

I did a little menu comparison on my last visit. Yes, the menu @ Grand Luxe is far less "grand" (length) than the menu @ Cheesecake. There are also more breakfasty choices @ Luxe 'cause the place does biz 24/7 & Cheesecake does not do breakfast. But lots of peeps seem to like the grub at Luxe and it fills the "slot" of a 24/7 coffee shop "better" than what you find in the other Strip casinos; hence the preferential reviews. If you are gonna be an overpriced coffee shop at least be a GOOD overpriced coffee shop.

+1 The Rialto suite I stayed in is an odd shaped room (cavern) right next to the elevator shaft. The only thing it is...is big and noisy. Good for college kids who need floor space. Better off to turn that "upgrade" down.

YW. I forgot to mention the 3rd floor is a smoking floor though.

Tried the buffalo chicken sandwich last night and it was really good. Next up will be the rib/sloppy joe, but that's after I return for another round of jambalaya. That's just too good.

Good tip on the 3rd floor. Otherwise, I'd disagree that the Pallazzo rooms are a big upgrade from the V. A bit more marble, but the design is exactly the same. I prefer the Pal over the V, but wouldn't pay more. That's just me.

The one thing I don't understand about the V. The Venetzia tower is supposed to be an upgrade from their original tower but the hike to get to the rooms from the casino is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long! I think the walk from the Palazzo rooms to the V casino is quicker then from the Venetzia tower at V to the casino.

Once the Venetian was built, it's not like they can move the casino when they added the Venezia tower.

I'm staying there in a suite of some sort this weekend. Fortunately (but maybe unfortunately?) two friends made a last minute decision to come along. So we now have five people potentially staying in the two room suite. Does this sound way over-crowded? It's hard to tell from the pictures, but I once got upgraded to a suite at the Red Rock randomly, and that could easily have fit five people...so I'm optimistic.

1) The Palazzo rooms are slightly bigger, but it is hardly noticeable.
2) The base rate P room was lower than the "V" on my last stay. There was also no "Sat. bump up." Reason (IMO) The "V" Club which we could hear in the P on the 23rd flr. thumpa thumpa bumpa bumpa Sat. night. The solution was to just keep gambling later until the club quieted down.

How long is the walk from Palazzo to the V poker room, not much more than 5-7 mins I'd guess?
You have access to all the pools regardless whether you're staying at the V or Palazzo, right?

Trying to decide between V and P; don't care too much about the room decor, but the Palazzo concierge rooms sound tempting for poker rate (hoping they'll become cheap enough in time for WSOP).

Yep, I've stayed at all 3 (Venetian, Venezia, Palazzo) and the Palazzo walk is easier to the V casino. Tons of walking and you have to take two elevators to get to your room in Venezia. The seclusive nature of the tower is overrated, and there are times that the separate check-in is closed and you'd have to go to the main Venetian check-in (which, as we all know, is absolute chaos even on a slow day). Shorter walk to Bouchon is the only advantage I can think of. F all that, never again.
