So got an email from CET with 4 free entries to their Summerfest which is a slots/bingo/VP/BJ tournament. Free 3 nights with it. How worth it are these? I'm looking at the BJ tournament but wouldn't mind some feedback from someone who has played in them before. CET really has zero info posted about these. I don't want to come out just to play this, and have a 5% chance of getting a piece of the prizepool.

It says its a $75000 guarantee. How likely am i to get apiece of this? I know a poker tourny, you can probably safely assume 15-20% cash. What about one of these?

Any type of TR or advice would be great

1 time bump!

Anybody? Find it hard to believe nobody has ever played in one of these. Looks like CET properties have been doing these for years, but just can't find any info on them. Or even if its not CET, how about any blackjack tournament?

I have played in a bunch of the CET freerolls over the years. If you are basing your trip on the probability of cashing only, then I would say stay home. When I played these, I was planning on a trip anyway, and this was just something else to do for fun and take advantage of the free rooms.

Slots is pure luck. How fast can you hit the spin button may have some bearing on the outcome, but is 99% luck. Bingo 100% luck. VP even if you have perfect tourney play down, the time is so short that whoever gets lucky and hits big hands win. Your skill can't overcome short term variance. BJ is more about how much you bet vs the other players, but still there isn't much room for skill here either.

Most of these will also have a rebuy. Usually it is ~$100. Bust out level 1, just rebuy and move on to level 2. I wouldn't recommend it, but see a lot of people do it.

It is impossible to figure what chance you have of cashing until the event starts and find out how many showed up for it. For example, the last one I played was a poker tourney. 1400 players and 100 got paid. And this is a game of skill right? Not so much. They had 2 flights on day 1 of 700 players in each flight and played down to 140 players in 2 hours. So 280 players made it to day 2 + rebuys. I didn't go back on day 2, but can imagine the structure was just as bad.

So if you like going to Vegas, they are fun to play. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky. But if if you are going solely to play these expecting to use some sort of skill advantage to make some money, not so much.

Hope that helps.

If you're getting a free room, that's your "tournament cash". Show up at the tournament because you're supposed to, take a couple spins, then go do your Vegas thing. All I got was a "discounted" room, which was basically the same price anyone at Gold tier would get.

I agree with both CowboyCold and Pig4bill, and I'm in Pig's boat ($30 night room and 2 entries for gold member.) I may go to the VP and Blackjack tourneys in August because it's a time I go to Vegas anyway for the cheap rooms and late afternoon tanning.

I figure for $130 bucks incld tax & resort fees for 2 nights in a GO room to play around the Linq and Flamingo and maybe get lucky and win some free casino cash sure why not? With gas and food it's pretty cheap to drive out from West L.A. and see if I get lucky. Around the tourney hit the pool and then the VP bar and 1/2 NL sounds like a fun mid-week getaway. Of course the probability of winning enough in either tournament to even make that $200 back is probably pretty slim but what the heck it's a time I'll be out there anyway.

I did one of these years ago when they actually had a poker tournament in the mix. There were hundreds of players all terrible, but it was the worst structure I'd ever seen in my life. I lasted about an hour and half the field was gone.
