Except for roofing, everything in a building gets (often exponentially) more expensive with every floor you add. Both for construction and maintenance. Especially in a country with strict construction regulations.
Plumbing is a good example, but here's one that's easier to visualize: Replacing a >1000lbs 100 sq ft window on the ground floor is not much fun, but nothing compared to doing it on the 50th floor.
Elevators are another good example. Just having one in your building might cost each unit owner >$100/month.
