Oh I absolutely price shop everywhere but if you go to TI's website and sign up for their hotel email deals you get frequent emails with discount codes. Those codes give discounts that beat all the 3rd party booking companies a huge percentage of the time. The crazy part is they have multiple codes floating around all the time that anyone can use but the different codes can provide wildly different room prices.
When I mentioned the $1,114 booking cost, that was booked direct and about $150 cheaper than booking through any 3rd party site. I know it's not like that with every hotel but historically with TI it's been true if you use the email codes that are free to anyone who signs up for them.
