Headed to vegas wen night for the Pac 12 tourney. Looking to play 9 or 18 Friday day. We will have a car so it can be a couple miles off the strip.

Any recommendations? Would like to keep it under $75 w/cart.

Go Buffs!

I purchased a 10 round package from the Callaway course located a few miles north of Mandalay Bay with the intention to use. Unfortunately, my friend is unable to go and as a result, I will not be bringing my clubs. The course is a 9 hole signature par three course. Will be getting into town the night of 3/13 staying through 3/23.
Paid $100 for the pass in Feb 2014.
PM Me if interested.

I don't want to hijack this thread but I have a similar question and rather than making a whole new thread I figured I'd ask it here. I will be going this summer but will not be bringing my clubs, so my question is the same as OP except I need to go somewhere that renting clubs isn't outrageously expensive. thanks in advance.

Rhodes Ranch is decent, southwest of the strip, though. You can probably get a good weekday price, or check with your concierge for rental/play packages. Callaway Rentals available.

I like playing at the Pete Dye course - Desert Pines. Quite a bit of water, so bring extra balls. Kind of a sketchy neighborhood, but weekdays are fairly priced. Northeast of strip. They also have Callaway rental clubs.

I played Badlands last year, and that course kicked my ass. Lost a dozen balls. Target golf for low handicappers (not me).

The 2+2 Golf section has plenty of info about LV golf. That being said, you are going to have a tough time this time of year finding anything under $75 if you are not a Vegas resident other than local dumpy municipal courses. The TaylorMade Golf Center (formerly the Callaway Golf Center) would be under $75 I'm pretty sure but it is just a 9 hole par 3 course and an underwhelming one at that.

and yes Go Buffs +1 - even though I know they have zero chance of beating Arizona should they even get that far in the tourney

As an Arizona fan I concur, go Buffs

you are not a local, you will not find the price you are looking for. you won't near the strip either way.

except at the taylormade par 3 course.

I played the Taylor made course over NYE. It was perfect as I was by myself and didn't have a ton of time, but if I were playing with people I would have been less than impressed. Only one hole longer than 120yds. It was like $65 for the round, rentals (rbz irons) and a small bucket on the range

I think vegas national is probably where I'll hit up next time

I've never understood wanting to play golf in Vegas. Overpriced, the courses aren't particularly great, and it takes a long time. Plus golf (if you play 18) will wipe your ass out for a solid 3-4 hours after your round. Not worth it, IMO. And I love golf.

Of course, I'm from South Carolina, where we can play golf 12 months out of the year. And I usually take 3-4 day trips, so there's not a lot of extra time.

But I've always found that golf in Vegas always sounds better in theory than it turns out being in real life.

It's a little more than a couple miles off the Strip, but drive to Phoenix. I've seen guys flying on day trips from the SF Bay area because the courses were less crowded, in better shape, the weather better, and cheaper even including the flight.

How about those courses out by Jean? It's a drive, but it's not that far.

Well, it is more of a diversion from gambling. Anything that takes you a way from -EV games is +EV.

There's your lack of understanding summed up right there.

You need to take better care of your body if golf wears you out for hours after a round. I hope you're not over the age of 50 in which case I retract my statement and feel like an *******.

In B4 doesn't golf (played for 16 years)

O.P, I was just out in January. I played at a course called Spanish Trail, which is a semi private C.C. I believe my round was around $70, but I also didn't have to rent clubs. For a Vegas course in January, it was in pretty damn good shape. Not the toughest course but it had some holes with character. I'd defiantly recommend playing it. I cabbed with my buddies and I believe the cab was around $25 each way to/from the strip.

Is it? The fact that I acknowledged what might be affecting my opinion suggests that I have the opposite of a lack of understanding.

Late 20s, in reasonably good shape. I play full court basketball 4-5 times per week and burn between 3,000 and 4,000 calories per day (thanks Fitbit).

Golf, even in a cart, will burn roughly 1200-1600 calories for the average-sized male (200 pounds). I don't think it's unusual at all to be drained for a few hours after a round of golf.

Maybe I swing harder than you people. Or maybe I end up taking more swings per round that you people.

As someone who caddied for 5 years and played golf longer, and is only 24, golf should wear you out in any decent amount of heat and idc what anyone says.

If you can't carry your own bag and walk the 18 holes, you don't deserve to golf.

You can find good tee times even iff you're not local, as long as you're flexible. This is lame quasi-advice, but I used a golf-now-esque service that I can't remember the name of the last time I was there. Sorry...the name of the site is escaping me at the moment. But when I was there, I played (as an example) 18 w a cart at Bear's Best for $55.

I will search for the site...I may have mentioned it here at the time.

Can anyone play golf in the U.S.?
I'm from the Netherlands myself, and here you need to take an exam with mandatory lessons. I have done that, but my buddy hasn't.

I'm wondering how golf courses in the U.S. look at people who don't play much golf, and how other golfers look at those people when they are in the flight before them.

I know you are being serious, but I seriously LOLed at this while thinking of all of the hacks I see playing the back tees at courses and shanking every tee shot.

Anyone is allowed to play golf at a public course (courses got to make that $$$ by overcrowding them) in the USA without any lessons or licensing as long as you have your own set of clubs. Which leads to a scenario where there are so many hacks that slow up play on courses that it can be very frustrating to golf sometimes. Don't worry about what other people think of you and your friend on the golf course, chances are they suck at golf and are aholes.

btw I am a hack but I at least play fast which is the most important thing.

re: Wild Horse

OP I have played this course before and hated it. Too many narrow fairways with sharp doglegs and they all seem to be crowned in the middle of the fairway. I hit a couple of balls right down the middle only to watch them roll off of the fairway into a garbage area or water. The personnel there are friendly at least.
