Put in an 11 hour session R Bellagio yesterday and was down $12. It was Eric Hiltons 83rd birthday. He was seated at my table and I asked for a table change. When he returned from dinner he was then at my new table. For those who don't know, Mr. Hilton gets into the game right away regardless if there is a list or not. The table turns from 9 handed to 10 handed. It's more like 11 handed as his aid sits at the table as well to assist. Bellagio on a Friday night 10 handed (11 handed) is not very enjoyable as your on everyone's lap.

There was a clown who was at my table for the past 2 nights being a jag bag to players and dealers. He kept talking **** poorly on people's play. Life goes on at the tables. 80% of the people who play are normal everyday people and 20% clowns.

It wasn't me. I couldn't make it back into town because of high room prices.

More info about Mr.Hilton. Who is he? How does he skip the list, always get a seat, what does his aid do etc?

First off google is your best friend my friend! And B) Mr....Hilton 80 something year old who Bellagio staff fall over themselves to accommodate.

Mr. Hilton, his brother William (Paris' grandpa) and my uncle (by marriage, since passed) were all very good friends. Eric and his wife and my Uncle Don Cutler and my Aunt (about 20 years younger and a faithful trophy wife who took care of him to his death) would spend a lot of time together on each other's ranches outside of Reno
in the 80s and 90s and vacationed together on occasion.

I would have to get a hold of my dear Aunt but I'm sure she has some great stories about the Hilton's both Eric and William.

Edit: I feel like my sentence structure and compositions was LOLbad above but I've taken a pain killer for some dental work I had done earlier and I can't put together a fix I like

Someone at Bellagio said he once asked them if they wanted to see a picture of his niece...and then he showed them Paris Hilton's mug shot on his phone!

Thanks for the info! The reason I didn't Google him is because I assumed this man was just some local celebrity/legend. Some poker rooms seem to have one old man who gets to break all the rules and get the special treatment. I just thought this might be the guy. Cool background on your families ties to the Hiltons. I thought your sentence structure was fine.lol

Jumping lists is nothing new at Bellagio for anyone with a decent tip, and I'm going to get to do it at CET rooms once I get Diamond.

Game was good for a change. Booked a winning session there for a change. Real swingy game where I was down 2 racks then back to even in 2 hands. Ended up +195 for 5.5 hrs.

Heading over to WSOP for a bit then a sit down dinner with the wife. Unsure where as of yet. Was thinking the prime rib loft at Orleans till I saw the sign.

Wife and I had dinner at Carlos & Charlie's at the Flamingo. Noting to special and service was poor due to the lack of servers.

Just wrapping up the end of the trip with a good old swift kick in the nuts. This has summarized my past 2 days at the Orleans & Bellagio. I will be returning later this year to claim the donations left behind. All in all a fun trip and would strongly recommend staying 2 weeks straight. There are a few things I plan on doing differently next time out and I will include those in my summary post.

That sucks, isn't above hand somewhat common for limit? Figured limit is all about these kind of suck outs.

Sucks your wrapping up your trip and returning to the real world soon, hope you had good time.

Ended up making a comeback in the game. I have no issues with people playing garbage hands. Those are the people I want in the game. The better players will rise to the top.

Agreed but you're simply more likely to see small percentage hands finding more opportunities in making turn calls in limit vs NL. In many ways that's what makes limit more dimensional and interesting.

I'm no so good at the pokerz. But if I was I'd try to play limit.

Not to derail but I agree. As a very long time limit player I absolutely can attest to the fact you are going to see more of these river suck out type hands. It's not because the odds are different, it's because there are so many more showdowns in limit and it's the norm to have multiway showdowns. And at the river you will very often have at least one if not two players holding one is these "Hail Mary" 3 or 4 outer hands because "it only cost $8 more."

I'm not complaining about this phenomenon because it's actually the best part about limit. More crappy hands with terrible odds calling down to the river and looking to hit some ridiculous hands because to them it's "just one more bet". And for a good player it's just more money in the pot. Oh and ya it sucks when they hit but again these people are what make limit profitable.

Maybe, but that's what you want. The potential payoff isn't there in LHE. If a guy takes a 10-1 shot at a draw and there's only 5 bets in the pot and he can only win 1 more at the most, that's a bad player you want at your table. As opposed to NL where a guy can hit his hand, make a pot sized bet and you feel you need to call.

First off I want to thank everyone for following along with the TR, the encouragement and advice. I have been back for 3 days now and am finally getting acclimated to the time change and normal hours again.

Below is a summary of the trip.

6-24 12.5hrs Bellagio -61
6-25 11hrs Bellagio +156
6-26 6hrs Bellagio +50
6-27 off day bbq at the village
6-28 5hrs Bellagio -768 (10/20)
6-29 8.5hrs Bellagio -71
6-30 7hr 45min Bellagio +471
7-1 11hrs Bellagio -12
7-2 4.5hrs Bellagio -180
7-3 10hr 45min Bellagio +58
7-4 4.5hr Orleans +195
7-5 10.5hr Orleans -116
7-6 4.5 hrs Bellagio -30

4/8
110.25 hours played
+531 $4.81/hr or .6 BB/hr

10/20
5 hrs
-768 -7.68 BB/hr

Total for the trip -237 over 115.25 hours or .49 cents per hour of entertainment.

Drinks
Over the course of the trip I had countless number of drinks including: Bellagio cocktails, Sun Splash, Cable Cars, watermelon juice, carrot juice, baileys and hot chocolate, kettle and pineapple juice, figi waters

Eats
Noodles: Pad Thai x5, sweet & spicy noodles
Snacks: pizza x4, onion rings x3
PF Changs: Changs for 2 special
Ellis Island: Ribs
Robertos Tacos
Bellagio Cafe
Carlos & Charlie's. They charge for chips & salsa, very annoying and will not be back
Basken Robbins shake x3 Orleans
Sabarro Orleans
Chipotle

Wife and I decided not to take public transit when it's dark out. We had 2 experience with some shady people who approached us outside of the Bellagio deuce stop. Taking uber and lyft was roughly $9 to go from Bellagio to the TS at the outlet mall. To take the deuce back was $4 each not to mention the wait for the bus. For an extra $1 it is worth the safety and not having to wait.

I did have revenge on my 666 hand that I lost with Q6 a few years back. I ended up having Q6 and flopped 666 again this time and my hand held up at the Orleans.

Highlights
Wife had her first 2 card royal flush. If it was at Orleans it would have been 1k min bonus but she had it at Bellagio for no bonus
Upswing Party at Encore. It was nice meeting Doug & Ryan along with other members of the poker community
Turning a profit at 4/8 limit over 100hrs of play for the trip
Playing 10/20 and feeling comfortable in the game and the stakes
Seeing friends from out of state that I had not seen in 10 years +

Take Aways
Shy away from playing at Bellagio in the morning. The game is full of nitty regs who do not give action or are playing a few hands and then stepping away from the table for an hour return to play a few hands and stepping away again.

Go to pool during the day and play in the evening at Bellagio or mid morning at Orleans. The games are better the later in the day and best after dinner and early mornings. The Orleans continues to have people buying I'm for the minimum or $60. I enjoy watching these players go bust and rebuying with $40 or $60 time after time. It must tilt them inside having to rebut so often and when they do have a hand only win the minimum.

On multiple occasions I found myself in for 5 racks during a session. There will be big hits to the stacks. The key is to avoid spewing off chips with inferior hands. Playing solid TAG works just fine. Only 1 time did I get fired up and that was the last day at Bellagio. I had my Ks 10s hand cracked by a garbage full house after I 3 bet to thin the field. Within the next 4 hands I had KK and QQ cracked and asked for a deck change. That was the only time I asked for a change and just needed a breather.

Trip goals
Complete TR Check
Cardio 1-1.5 hrs per day Fail 1/14
Spend time at pool Fail 1/14
Conscious of snacks Fail, managed to put on 9 lbs
Meet up with 2+2ers check. Met up with Foatie, Gobbo, Whatwonder, ChicagoJoey
Play 150hrs fail and end up at 1BB/hr. Ended up spending time at the rio for a few days soaking action at the 50k and ended at .6 BB
Min 10hrs at 10/20 fail. Played 5 hrs and built confidence for upcoming sessions. I would compare it to Mike McD in rounders with Johnny Chan
Drink multiple Thug Passions check. At $15/drink I was way ahead on these alone
Meals check: easily stayed below the $50/day allowance and meals. Total for the trip was roughly $400 and included feeding 11 people for a bbq.
Play 75% hours at Bellagio check

Next trip goals:
Play 1-2 sessions of 10/20 limit
Play a tourney. Orleans Sunday night horse tourney has always sounded like a good one to try
Play a session of NL at a lower end room like Excalibur, Luxor or IP with the intent of playing with newbs
Loose 20lbs and weigh 195 or less
Get some NL coaching
Try Fix at the Bellagio with comps
Work out daily and stick with a routine

Next trip to Vegas will depend on if I need rotator cuff surgery or not. Tore rotator cuff earlier in the year and the physical therapy is not working. I will know in a few weeks if surgery will be needed to correct and if that's the case, I still have vacation time to use before going on short term disability with my job. Looking like a trip in late October if surgery is required and nov or dec if somehow I am healed.

GL to all the grinders out there doing your thing and thank you for reading my journey.

Sick vacation volume. 8+ hours/day for 2 weeks is a solid grind. I'm surprised you didn't take another shot at 10/20 after solidly beating 4/8 over 100 hrs.

We will work on your NL game and find some good games on the next trip...
