This was discussed heavily as I was leaving CO. A ton of similar structures were popping up at the time. Look in the MTT section. Next time we hang out I'd be interested in theorizing on this.

Post or link to specific rules, how late you can add on, etc.

Without the theory, the short answer is I want to have the maximum amount of chips as soon as possible. I always buy immediately if given the chance. Imo, this is standard for a rebuy tourney.

Its even when better when you can double through a player who also added on.

Always take the most chips possible at the beginning. Always want to be in the position to make the most when double ups are possible

"Always" is a pretty bad word when it comes to poker theory.

if you goal is to cash, then the extra $100 is minimal in my opinion. playing as even as possible in chips with the other folks is more paramount... either pay the 100 or find a new tournament.

If anyone else at the table takes the add-on at the start of the tourney, I take the add-on. If not, I will likely wait until I have a smaller stack than anyone. If I get to the break without taking it, I usually will unless I have a monster stack.

I could be wrong, but I think if you have Fantasyland purchased and hit it VS someone who doesn't have it you'll still trigger it. Amused I bet your game VS Katana is just the default OFC mode. To turn on Fantasyland you'll need to make a customized game type and enable it.
