hello. i'm going to las vegas for 2weeks and i need some suggestion for mobile/wireless internet provider.

most of u know... casino charges about $10 a day for internet access =/
its kinda expensive for me.

i searched around and found at&t/cricket/clear but i can't seem to tell if they support inside the strip or not.
if u know any 'good' provider, please let me know.

thanks in advance.

Last year I signed up with Cricket for my trip to Vegas and I found it connected fine from my hotel rooms (Monte Carlo and Orleans). I had no issues with it, although the download speed seemed a bit slow to me. But for regular web browsing and email it was fine.

I think I read other posts here suggesting that Clear may be a better option, but I have no experience with it.

Terrible's is a good, local budget hotel/casino off the strip that has free wireless.

If you are there for several months, I think you will want a mobile provider like Clear or one of the others. Take a look at their web sites and look at the coverage maps - as long as you are not on the very outskirts of town (very west Summerlin or southest Henderson, etc) it looks like you should be covered.

I don't think you will be able to use any of them directly with your iPhone since they use USB modems to connect. However, what I did when I visited was connect with my laptop using the modem, and then set up a peer-to-peer WiFi network and set my iPhone to connect to that. It worked pretty well. If you do something like this, be sure to turn off Enable Data Roaming in your iPhone so you can be sure it is not using Roaming mode (which is expensive).

It looks like Clear will charge $30/month for their Unlimited service, and $50 to buy their 3G modem. They have a 4G modem but I am not sure if the monthly service is more for 4G. I would assume it is.

Cricket looks similar for their 3G plan - $40/month for the unlimited service, and it looks like you can get a modem for free or very cheap if you use the service for at least $45 days - they'll mail you a pre-paid Visa card for $50.

Hopefully some folks who have actually used the wireless services in Vegas can give some better comments.

Where will you be staying?

In fact, i'll arrive the 8th, i booked a week at the excalibur for 1 week and during this week, i'm going to visit some condo.
And thanks James for your answer, i took a look, on clear, but they have nothing for the iphone, i just see they have only solution with usb key, and what i'm looking for ot's something for my iphone, i check with AT&T, with a prepaid card, you can take only a 100mb/month option
James did you heard by other wireless provider with a prepaid card and an unlimited data option ?

For a full week that's $70. Most here never tip more than $1 per pot won, complaining it eats up income.

However, $70 for a week of internet is yet another rip off by the casinos to which they owe their current state of economic slump. Oh, and most place's its 10.99 or 11.99.

I really don't know about ways you can use your iPhone. I heard you used to be able to use unlocked iPhones with the AT&T pay-as-you-go plans, but it sounds like you already checked with them and they don't offer a plan you would want to take. I don't have any other suggestions, sorry.
