Around where I live, most "event" parking is $20+.
Walking into a casino is not an "event".

They may not be charging for ordinary parking NOW, but that's clearly the intent of the revenue growth plan. This is just the camel's nose under the tent to get people like you to say "That's not so bad". In time the frog will come to a boil and you'll be paying to park any time you go into an MGM parking space.

That's true. I meant that I can't remember paying less than $10 in general or less than $20 for an event.

FWIW, a couple weeks ago we had to pay ~$30 overnight at a Hotel in New Orleans, pissed me off..

As long as hotel guests get validated and there is some type of validation system in place if you gamble at the place then I don't really mind this change.

So maybe guests won't have to pay?
What makes you think that tells us guests won't have to pay? It looks to me like it is saying guests will definitely have to pay.

Does Orleans charge for parking when they hold events at their arena?

They haven't done anything to show that they are willing to validate for much of anything. If anything it's been the opposite. And the article didn't say anything about parking being validated.

Also they are still planning to charge everyone at all their properties.
Well, I haven't seen anywhere official where it said there will be no validation either. So I guess we'll both have to wait until there is something that states that before we speculate (which I didn't do, I just said I wouldn't mind the charging if they did).

They said players with high tier status cards might get the parking feel waived.

After all the outrage one of their responses suggested they are doing us a favor by not charging more. They didn't say "Don't worry we will validate."

Also the fact that a parking company is involved doesn't help.

No, because we're not miserable, cheap bastards like yourself. We understand that it is incredibly petty and illogical to punish low-wage employees for the actions of their multi-billion dollar employer corporations.

A Train do Vegas a favor and just don't visit if you're going to punish the rank and file. Go Somewhere with less fees like Foxwoods...

Not any time I've been there. I think I was there a few weeks ago when they had a WCC basketball tournament and there was no charge in the garage I parked in.

This is a plan to make more money. Hard to make more money if you make a lot of exceptions and let people park for free.

Yeah but they will want to lube it up real good and ease it in.

If they plan on validating then why wouldn't they just say that?

I think yearly parking passes are more likely.

If you say so. I think it is more of a plan to get money from those that just park there then walk the strip not really spending any money at the casino/resort.

I get this but at the same time these businesses need to understand what it means to be a mature company as well, and sometimes, that means they just need to focus on maintaining similar sales/profits from year to year, and understand and accept that might be best for their long-term outlook as well. Obviously they should keep trying to grow and create new opportunities, but creating unrealistic growth goals forcing them to make bad business decisions with short-term instead of long-term goals in mind is not good either.

It's just impossible to get unlimited growth out of the same property/properties forever, having an aggressive yet still realistic outlook seems to be really undervalued right now.

Murren also noted that the arena is being built without "one penny of taxpayer dollars.”

So I’m not really sympathetic to somebody that says ‘I want everything free’ when we’re the ones spending the capital to build the amenities that are to the benefit of the tourists and the locals," he said.

You must be one of those terrible people that wants everything free.

I thought "registered hotel guests" meant guests who have a room at the hotel. Am I wrong?

There will be many validations at first because it's really easy to take away validations later.

Such as? I have seen talk about them validating people with Gold and possibly even Pearl cards. It's that's the case it seems like that's a reaction to the backlash IMO. But that's not the same as what goes on in Fremont.
