Come to my house with $10,000. I'll roll a pair of dice and every time I don't roll 12 I'll get you a beer. Every 50 times I'll also pay for a $100 hotel room.

But I get the $10,000 every time I roll 12.

Technically, you only get $5,000 every time a 12 is rolled, as the pass bet loses but the don't pass bet pushes.

</nit>

The basic premise of the bet is sound, though, and you can use the pass-don't pass dichotomy to lock up a win for things like match play coupons. If you have a $5 match play coupon, you can put $5 on pass with the match play coupon, $10 on don't pass, and $1 on 12. You are guaranteed to win no matter what number comes up.

Quick Question about Nightclubs and such...I'll be in Vegas in the middle of January (13th thru 16th) and am wondering whats the best way to get into nighclubs without having to wait in line. I'll be with my g/f so its not like its gonna be a dozen dudes traveling around. I've seen stuff online to get "VIP" passes that let you skip the line, but I was wondering if this was the best approach. Thanks in advance for any advice that comes along.

Also, any suggestions on good places to go. We'll be staying at TI during the week and MGM on Friday night if that helps.

Does anyone know anything about Cricket wireless internet? Is the coverage reliable in Vegas? (Good enough to use for online poker without worrying about dropoffs?)

varies wildly with location... at its best, its about as good as typical 3g... at its worst its worse than a good dail up connection.

imo, go with clear wireless... theyre 4g and mine is actually a better connection than my cox cable. only slightly more expensive out the door (i think cricket is 100, clear is 150) and definiotely a better connection

ftr here is my speedtest with clear

and here is cricket (i still have the criucket wireless modem laying around)

and here is cox (premier)

for some reason i dont quite get, cox reliably shows faster on speedtest than clear, but when im actually downloading stuff clear does much much much better (normally like 3x as fast)

I had DTV before moving to Vegas but had to switch to Cox when I moved to vegas because they couldn't mount the dish anywhere. Picture quality is the same but I much prefer DTV. Internet options are the same as any other big city

I read it. Same story. Cable. DSL. Wireless. Reviews are always very dependent on where you live. 2 people can have the same service and very different reviews.

Planning a trip the weekend before memorial day weekend. My motorcycle forum is having a meetup there. Has anyone ever tried to get a discounted group rate? How many rooms would you need to block to get a good rate? Gotta be a strip hotel, we have a few first timers. Will probably stay at Imperial Palace, love the games there, always walk away with a nice profit that I can promptly lose at the Bellagio. Although I probably will not get a lot of table time this trip, so I wont be able to get a poker room rate.

Typically $1 per pot unless you just take down the blinds (or blinds + limp or something). If you win a huge hand, feel free to toss the dealer a redbird.

just seems a ridiculous amount youre giving away if you add in rake.

There are 100 tipping threads in B&M, and I don't want the debate to spill into this thread. Suffice it to say that tipping is a personal decision and is never required, but I'm confident that what I've posted above is standard.

Hi Guys,

Im coming out to vegas in March for my Honeymoon and would like a bit of an idea on costs.

How much roughly for the following:

Transport to and from Airport (we are staying at Bellagio)

Trip to Grand Canyon.

Cost of Eating out on a night in a resonable place (bit vague I know) are the buffet's gd value? if so any reccomendations?

Id like to take her to the top of the world restauraunt - how much is this for the 3 course dinner Menu?

Same question as above but for the eiffle tower restauraunt

A decent show ticket price.

Night Club Tickets (we are both 30 so advice on a gd one would also help)

We are there for a week - can you buy a pass for the monarail? is it reccomended? if so how much.

Is there any obvious thing I have missed that we should be doing? obv will be playing a spot of poker and slots / roulette.

Thanks in advance

The smallest game you will find is 1-2 NLHE. So standard toke would be $1 on a raked hand. I usually tip only when the pot is atleast $10. Pot gets to about $40 I will tip two, a $100 around $5. Dealers are only at the table for 30 mins usually so they expect tips on almost every hand and you can usually tell because their demeaner changes of you rake a good pot and forget. No tip if its folded to your BB.

Im coming out to vegas in March for my Honeymoon and would like a bit of an idea on costs.

How much roughly for the following:

Transport to and from Airport (we are staying at Bellagio)The Airport is only 5 miles from Belleagio so the cost of a taxi plus tip $10-$20.

Trip to Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon is 200 miles away rent a car and stay one night there $200.00. If you are talking about a Helicopter trip, I have no clue.

Cost of Eating out on a night in a resonable place (bit vague I know) are the buffet's gd value? if so any reccomendations? Buffets are good food for the most part but not really a great value. Larger casino buffets can cost $40 or more per person. There are plenty of really cheap deals in vegas search for Vegas Cheap Food Deals for a list. Other than that every Casino has reasonable priced resturants and Crazy priced resturants. Best Steak used to be at Binion's Ranch top floor of Binions Casino $60 per person before drinks.

Id like to take her to the top of the world restauraunt - how much is this for the 3 course dinner Menu? Internet look it up.

Same question as above but for the eiffle tower restauraunt Same.

A decent show ticket price. $75 per person?

Night Club Tickets (we are both 30 so advice on a gd one would also help): VIP passes are a waste of money. Last time went to a nightclub I slipped the doorman $50 and skipped the really long line. Vegas works off of tips and bribes.

We are there for a week - can you buy a pass for the monarail? is it reccomended? if so how much. Skip monorail buy Deuce tickets, it covers the entire strip old and new.

Is there any obvious thing I have missed that we should be doing? obv will be playing a spot of poker and slots / roulette. Book your travel from one of the big online retaillers and you can get transportation, grand Canyon, show tickets and certain resturants with one stop shopping. I use travelocity.

The Deuce is a double decker bus similer same as the UK. They run from one end of the strip to the other. It costs like 5 bucks unlimted per person a day. They are really nice and well kept buses. When you estimate cost of eating in a Casino figure 50-60 per person before drinks and you will be close, unless you are looking at one of the really exclusive resturants like Alex at the Wynn, where the tip willl be 150 bucks for two.

After some searching it looks like the 3 course for two at the strat is about 150.00 best I can tell.
