I'm staying at Westgate 6/21-6/25. I see the monorail has a Westgate and a Paris station. Is this a viable transportation option?

Should be "viable", depending on the following:

Is there a stop at where you want to board and where you want to stop ?

Will it be operating at the times you want to ride ?

Uber is a viable alternative you might consider

Go real slow, down the narrow alley, then up the steep driveway into the garage. Using valet is much easier because you don't have to schlep your luggage all the way from the parking garage. The bad side is when picking up from valet, it takes awhile because the garage is so far away. Tip accordingly.
Thank you, sir! Do you happen to know if the line for valet is crazy busy with the WSOP going on or is it pretty standard? I’m picturing the lines for dropping off at Rio during big events and they were pretty long.

I apologize for not being more specific. I plan on taking the monorail from Westgate to Paris Thursday morning for Day 1B of WSOP Senior tourney. I know it doesn't run 24/7.

Don't apologize, I'm a curmudgeon.

Not that you asked for any, but my advice is take an uber ....more reliability, less walking, less uncertainty, less stress.

I won't be there until this weekend, so if someone contradicts my other post, they are right and I'm wrong. But I can't think of a reason it would be moved or where they would move it. But thinking logically, the average person traveling in for the WSOP doesn't have a car and would find some other transport to get there. If Elvis is giving a concert, lots of locals would drive their cars and clog up the valet.

It should be viable.

I haven't taken the monorail in years so my advice might be out of date.

I would Google the cost and the schedule because it probably has changed a lot since I last took it so my advice might not be relevant.

I would think that if you were willing to get to the station early enough to catch a train you will be fine.

Normally the biggest downside to the monorail is that the stations are not in convenient places. They are normally at the back of huge, multi-acre resorts so you have to walk a long way to get to the departing station and then walk a long way from the arrival station to wherever it is you want to go. Generally not worth it. For example, if you and I were standing in the Horseshoe (Bally's) valet area and were looking to go to the Wynn valet. I would bet even money I could walk to to Wynn valet before you could take the monorail there. You would have to walk from the front of the Horseshoe resort all the way to the back, find the monorail stop, buy a ticket, wait for the train, take the first northbound arrival, then take it to the Wynn, then walk all the way from the back of the Wynn to the front by valet.

Just walking the strip is generally better.

However you are in a unique situation. You would have to walk to the front of the Westgate to catch the monorail, the same as you would have to do to catch an Uber/cab. Then you would be getting off at the back of the Horseshoe/Paris resorts, but the WSOP events are being held at the back of the resorts so not as much walking.

It might be doable.

Check the cost/schedule and see.

Just Googling it, a 24 hour pass is $13.45. Probably cheaper than an Uber round trip. The wait time is probably the same as well.

As should be expected, the valet is a mess on Friday and Saturday nights, but is easy other nights. Even on Friday and Saturday it is fine, it just takes some patience. You might need to wait for some Valet runners to move some cars or such.

The Valet at the Horseshoe is one of the best places to park on the strip. Easy access to/from I-15. Easy acces to/from the strip. Center strip. Walkable to many places.

Thx for info. I'm only using it to get to WSOP. The monorail map makes it look like the Paris station is at the "back" of the property. I think that's close to the WSOP rooms (based on Paris property map) but I don't know. I've read comments about the difficulty getting to Paris/Horseshoe due to the strip construction. Does anyone know if that's improved any?

The WSOP area is probably about equidistant from the monorail station and the front door. At any rate, unless you're infirm, the walk from the monorail station is not a big inconvenience.

WRT traffic, the monorail is an elevated train, so it doesn't care about traffic and stops only at monorail stops.

Good option IMO. It's a couple of minutes walk from the Ballys/Paris station to the actual casino, but only around 5-6 minutes.

You can purchase single tickets for $5 each, or buy passes (24 hours, 3 days, 7 days are the options I believe).

Lol I was convinced for years you were a lawyer. I somehow confuse you and John Curtas the food critic and downtown lawyer. You’re both my go to for Vegas food.

FTR I’ve been at vdara for the last week and have ubered every time to wsop except two nights when I walked home - once through cosmo and out through their valet driveway then up the stairs to vdara and once through crystal / aria. Both were kind of a pain in the ass. Was much easier to be able to walk all the way through bellagio from the ped bridge over the strip straight into vdara. Oh and the construction starts really early so beware with any room facing that way.

Hell of an honor. Since having kids I’ve not explored nearly as much. I still try to stay on top of it to some degree but generally fail. This is the only place I post about food!

This example is true for any casino except the Wynn. The "Wynn monorail stop" is located not at the back of the casino, as is true of the Horseshoe, MGM, Linq, Sahara, or Westgate, but all the way over at the Convention Center on Paradise -- even further behind the huge-multi-acre Wynn Resort.

Yes it's always important to carefully estimate walking distances. To get from Horseshoe valet to Wynn valet I'd take the LVB city bus.

It's not a belief, money is just debt. Swiping a credit card creates money.
