This is very true. If the criteria is a CET property and money isn't an issue, and with the other aspects of the trip, then I still think Caesars is the right play with Bellagio next door.

I'm not sure any other CET casinos with poker rooms would give me a reason to visit based on the room.

But I hope others advise.

I don't think Caesars is worth the price premium over paris, planet hollywood, or cromwell - whichever vibe you are more interested in.

you don't have to stay at the same hotel you plan to play, shop, or eat at.

What I have gathered over the years from the forum, and from the two times I played there very briefly is that they cater to the nits so the games don't have very good action. They don't have promos, and offer double tier credits when compared with the other CET rooms in town (or at least they used to).

I very much agree and I like PH for the price. While I think Caesars is overpriced, it also means not walking everyday to do anything that is on that list. Also, and this depends on the week, but Cromwell and Paris aren't always cheap.

EDIT: Caesars is also huge and won't be easy to get anywhere outside of the hotel. Blue is an MGM player (I think), so PH with a short walk to Aria and Bellagio isn't a bad idea and you have Horseshoe nearby for a CET room. You have Gordon Ramsay Burger and Holsteins very close if you want to stay on strip.

Even if prices were the same I would probably chose Planet Hollywood over Caesars Palace.

Caesars and all strip hotels are huge but you can literally walk from Caesars poker room to across the street to Linq/Flamingo in under 10 minutes, ill set the over/under at 7 minutes. Also once there you can take the tram which takes you from Westgate to MGM within minutes making stops along the way.

And Caesars is dated and not anywhere near the price hike compared to PH, Paris, and even Harrahs or Flamingo at this point.

I don't think the Cromwell is huge... in fact it's fairly small. It's also closer to the strip. I think the Flamingo and Harrah's would fall into this category as well as far as proximity to the strip.

I'll remove myself from this conversation, but be sure to realize that there is a difference from walking off the strip to walking well beyond it. (I think the Cosmo Boulevard vs the Chelsea tower conversation covered this).

Caesars also was recently updated depending on the tower you are in. And I'm not trying to defend Caesars as I don't stay there.

Thank you all. Yes, I'm an MGM player and we've taken a couple trips to Bellago (with wives) and Aria (poker, bourbon, burgers).

He's leaning towards Caesars for his CET/TR action (Sports Betting). We'll see the room and price options and decide. Could stay at Caesars and play at Bellago.

Holstein's is a never miss on our trips.

Poker is the top priority. If we're travelling, it will be to Bellagio (or Aria if we stay other than B/C).

I am trying to find some of the old trip reports, maybe 5 years ago, or so, of a guy from I believe North Carolina who posted the best trip reports ever seen on 2+2. He was thin, wore glasses, and had some huge blackjack sessions. He posted great photos of his Las Vegas trip reports and had the best stories ever.

For some reason, I can’t remember his name. I’m sure there are long time people here that know who I am talking about. Absolute 2+2 Legend.

Could anyone remind me of his name and/or post some of his thread links?

Thanks..

I went back to look but we only have 2 pages of history. I don't know what happened to this forum but I know who you're talking about.

That magically changes once you switch the display options to stuff that's older than 75 days.

No problem.

In December 2018 I was playing poker at Planet Hollywood when I heard "Which of you boys wants to lose some money?" from another table. I looked over and it was Slim. Then he wandered about for a bit and came back, then our tables got merged and he wandered about for a bit more, last we saw he was heading upstairs with a lady.

Legend.

I've never been to a city where the ambulances run wild like they do here. I want to say you are 10x more likely to encounter an ambulance with the sirens on than anywhere else I've been.

10x sounds way too high. But but I spent a couple years mainly in SD before moving back here and it thinking back, it was pretty uncommon to see in SD. Here, if you take a 15 minute drive I feel like it's maybe 50/50 to happen.

My first thought was, lots of old people. Maybe a load of drunken tourist mishaps. But I don't think these factors come close to explaining it. So what is the deal? Who are these people? Are they flipping on the sirens for someone with a broken toe? To get to their lunch spot?

These are more subjective impressions. But I also find the drivers are pretty obnoxious. They'll take any opportunity to lay into the horn, drive down the wrong side of the road, etc. And it seems that, unsurprisingly, civilian drivers are less heedful than elsewhere. Probably a mix of boy who cried wolf, and just getting sick of pulling over to the side of the road every other time they drive to the store.

I used to think that the ambulances in Vegas were stationed and parked in hospitals. I was wrong.

If you drive a block off strip you'll find that many ambulances are actually walking distance from Strip. There are very many of them near Tropicana, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, where that Catholic church near Tropicana is at. And they like to do test runs on their lights and sirens even if there are no emergencies. But the big yellow fire trucks that usually accompany ambulances are parked at the fire stations behind Silver Seven and across Orleans. That's why they arrive at the location of the emergencies minutes after the ambulances.

And yes, lots of obese and old tourists in Vegas. And people who call on ambulances for dehydration and hurt tendons from too much walking.

This post is the nut low, so far, for uninformed posts on this topic specifically and by Reggie generally.

Let's see .... you are comparing Las Vegas to South Dakota in terms of how common it was to see/hear ambulances.

You think ambulance drivers here turn on their sirens too frequently for your taste ?

Your post approaches "Old Man Yells at Clouds" status.

I'm not sure if you're joking, but San Diego, not South Dakota. As well as other urban areas.

I'm starting to get up there! It is a petty annoyance, but I'm also curious if there is a reason for it.

My best guess is that Las Vegas skews toward elderly, obesity, buffets, drugs, alcohol, recklessness, sex work, crime, homelessness and suicide.

AMT is off Post Road fairly close to where I live... One of those idiots managed to drive into the back of me at 5am in the morning when the only two cars on the road were them and I.

I was f*cking pissed.

i have no idea what the reason for it might be (besides the obvious like the heat & lots of drunk & fat tourists), but it stood out to me as well. way more ambulances with lights & sirens on than expected / "normal".
