Thanks for all the answers guys. I didn't realise there were escalators etc. so that explains the long time estimates. It wasn't so much to save on taxi fare but more like 'Why not walk a mile if the weather is OK and I'm gonna spend most of the rest of the week in casinos?'. Thanks also for the not safe at night warning and letting me know about The Deuce.

Any answers to the gym near Circus Circus Q?

Cheers.

I assume there's a gym at CC, as there is at every other hotel. Not as if the typical CC visitor would ever set foot inside a gym.

There does seem to be a pretty basic 'Fitness Center' but I'd be willing to move around a bit if there is a decent facility fairly near.

It shows as 171 on this map. It is also known as Paradise Rd. The tunnel goes under the runways between Russell and Sunset. As you can see, it runs south out of the airport. The Strip is northwest.

I have never been to Vegas for a big fight and I am going May 2. This is probably a silly question but the fight will be on in all the sportsbooks right? Didn't know how that worked with it being pay per view and all.

Posts 1850-1855 should help you out with this question at least partly.

How many are you? For 5 of you @ $150pp you can go watch the fight with bottle service at Sapphire. I'm sure there are other such deals around.

What's the best boyd property downtown (fremont, main street station, california) to have as a home base for a night?

We're slumming it down there for a day in July and are gonna stay a night. Location towards fun and access to late night eats and drinks most important, actual room slightly less important.

Based on your specs Fremont right on the Downtown Strip is your best option. The advantage of the others are a short walk to Fremont St and quieter rooms for sleeping. Don't expect much from any of them. They are all old.

Thanks. So paradise is ok as long as you're going north.

Heading out Sept 26 to Oct 1 for a trade show. Looking for hotel <$100/night on the monorail line to get to/from convention center. Based on the show's negotiated rates, Bally's, Flamingo and Harrahs all qualify. I am unfamiliar with all of them. Don't care about in-hotel restaurants or who the show headliner is.

I also have a CEI card and could throw them a little action in Atlantic City between now and then but its a >2hr one way drive so its not worth it to me just to save $20 a night.

All suggestions appreciated.

Carl - Basically all of the standard rooms are about the same between those 3 options.

I would rank them Ballys>Flamingo>Harrahs.

The reason to put Harrahs last is they have motion sensors in the rooms for the AC and I like to sleep with the fan on high to drown out ambient noise. Also, there is a Carnival Court on one side of the hotel that plays loud ass music til ~4am in the morning. If you get stuck in a room on that side, you will hate life.

Ballys rooms are slightly nicer I guess, although I like gambling at Flamingo better, so I usually stay there.

At live events in Vegas are people typically selling tickets outside the event? I know in some places it's illegal and enforced and in other towns scalpers are everywhere selling tickets. I was going to check out the Pac-12 tourney without duckets hoping to buy some outside.

YMMV. As with all commodities the market for tickets can go down as well as up, so showing up at the event is not a bad idea (same goes for big fights). If the scalpers are overbought you can get a great deal, otherwise try to find people with extra tickets who aren't professional scalpers and who just want to unload their extras (you could try the section of the parking lot where people just parked).

Thanks Cowboy.

I appreciate the quick response and valuable tip about Carnival Court.

Have you already booked your hotel room? Because if you haven't, you're in for another rude awakening.

Sweet - thanks. I heard somewhere that the other two are pretty much Hawaiian tourists. Not that that's bad, but I'm assuming it's less lively.

Yes room and flight booked the night they announced the fight. Can't believe how much rooms and flights have gone up. I imagine the town is going to be crazy. I am really excited. Poker rooms will be more crowded then normal I suspect.

Bally's south tower facing the new shopping area is also very loud until at least 5am.
