Another reason you are seeing such a variance in the amounts quoted online is because of the duration of the tour. There was a Hoover Dam tour that took off close to there from the Hacienda Casino for $29. I asked them how long the flight lasted, and they said about 3 minutes. LOL.

We did this tour. They pick you up from your hotel and drop you back off after the tour. Total time from pickup to drop off was about 4 1/2 hours. The flight itself was a little over 2 hours.

I also went with Papillon because you can pay extra to sit in the front seats. It is worth every penny. If you get stuck in the back of the helicopter in the middle seats, you will not be happy when you get back. 180 degrees of glass from up front.

You see Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and land in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Then on the way back you get downtown and a kick ass view of the strip.

Total for 2 people was ~$800.00. Again, worth every penny and one of the funnest things I have done in my life.
+1 to this recommendation, did the same trip and loved it. Also try and get the afternoon timeslot so you fly back over the strip as the lights are coming to life.

Is Valley of Fire state park worth going to, particularly considering that I've explored Red Rocks pretty thoroughly over the course of a dozen or so climbing trips? If they're essentially the same, I may or may not make the effort to get out there.

Staying at the MGM at the end of August. Looking for a gym to hit three days while I'm in Vegas. I'm reading that a lot of hotels charge like $25-$40/day to use their fitness center/spa, ect.

Anyone with experience know of nearby Gold's or others that charge a daily fee that might be easier AND that I can either walk to or get a cheap cab ride to?

Don't know the answer, but I'm sure Google does. You can't go three days without going to the gym?

if you've never been to Valley of Fire I'd say it's worth checking out once. There are red rocks at the Valley of Fire of course but that's where the similarities end to Red Rock Canyon. Lots of this around:

in addition there are a couple of interesting hikes you can take, strange-looking rock formations and petrified logs to see. sometimes they film car commercials there which is interesting to observe - they filmed an Audi commercial when I was there about 5 years ago. coming back you can drive back along North Shore Road in the Lake Mead Recreation area (stop at Echo Bay and walk around there are some nice views there) to make a full afternoon or day of it.

Access to the gym (and wifi in the room) is included in the hotel's "resort fees", ie the +25 or whatever it is per day.
Were you planning on not paying that? I'm not even sure that is an option.

titty bars!!!!

ok, so a buddy of mine and I are going to Vegas Monday-Saturday. My 10th trip, his 2nd. hes never been to a strip club in vegas and is bringing with him a seperate daily budget for food, gambling, and strip clubs. We're gonna be in trouble.

Either way... need some help from LVL. After a cursory search and a little experience, I know the following:

Rhino will pick you up and waive cover fee, just tip the driver $10-$20 per head
Sapphire will pick you up, but do they waive the cover as well?

OG's has a happy hour between 3pm-6pm on weedays, and it looks like its right between the strip and downtown, so cab fare shouldnt be too bad. Worth stopping in for?

What else can you guys tell me about gentleman's clubs in the desert?

I think resort fees often cover only part of the gym, i.e. treadmills/ellipticals/silly **** like that. The weight room part may be an extra fee (iirc).

you might want to consider upgrading ot the signature if a gym is a huge consideration. The sig has a well-equipped gym/weightroom the use of which is included in the price of the room, and is usually not much more expensive than MGM.

Zoltan. You are probably the only guy 'not' from Texas I would get along well with.

Well played as per usual.
