Dang, I'd hate to have the job of the guy that takes care of camels. I wouldn't mind being called a camel herder, wouldn't much like being called a camel flocker.

I vaguely recall a post about restaurant coupons or discounts. Some website where you could get good discounts at reasonably nice restaurants. I can't find it anywhere.

Ideas?

Can anyone outline what would be a good first date in Vegas? I met a girl and we're probably going out friday or saturday. Any nice restaurants you guys can recommend? And what would be a good thing to do afterwards? Nothing too fancy or formal as I dont think she's the girl for that...but it should still make me look halfway balla.

Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. I took a first date there for dinner and she could not have been happier. She thought it was a very romantic night. Make reservations, go around 6-7pm, try to sit on the patio...if you have to wait, they have two bars you can have a glass of wine at. Watch the fountains across the street(Bellagio). Don't have dessert at Mon Ami...walk across the street to the chocolate fountain place at Bellagio.

Mon Ami with wine, appetizer, entree, tax and tip should run you $70-100 depending on what you order. But really just entree should be enough. Most entrees are $15-30 and include some sort of side like potatos.

They did? How many games did they show at once? Did it cost?

I was there part of the time but I didn't know about this auditorium.

I will be in Vegas from 23-28 April and would like to check out the 5 Star tourney at the Bellagio. Not play, just watch some, how do you get tickets to the final table? Also can you get into the tourney area and just rail? I have never been to a major tourney and want to check it out.

it was free, had about 4-5 screens set up. they showed all the games that were on. I think it was kind of a hidden secret as there was only like 1-2 signs pointing the way and the auditorium was like 10% full.

I have a question...I am coming down from March 30th through April 3rd. I will only be playing poker with maybe one exception. I am staying at Harrah's. Where in general should I play, like what is the best room to play low limit hold'em and small stakes no limit hold'em? Where will I find the most fish mid-week here? By and large people seem to say that Venetian is the nicest room. So I will definitely check it out but I kind of like the Mirage too. Given my location anyone have suggestions about where I should be spending my time playing? Will the weekdays be laden with fish or am I going to just run into grinders and serious players?

Question 2, I love the 5 cent Wheel of Fortune slot machine. Anyone know if Harrah's has this or where in Vegas in that general vicinity I may find these machines? Sorry for the lame question at the end but I'm gonna bring a hundo to blow and that will be the only true gambling I will do while I am there. All advice is appreciated.

Hey guys. I have never been to Vegas, but I am headed out there in July with my girlfriend. I only plan to play a minimal amount of poker, and plan on just doing to plain ole touristy stuff like see stuff, take pictures, and eat expensive meals, so the quality of gambling in the casino is not important to me. I have read through most of this thread and i have browsed a few sites like allvegaspoker.com and visitlasvegas.com, and I have a question:

When choosing a hotel, can I trust the supply/demand curve when evaluating room rates? That probably isn't a very good way of asking the question. Basically what I am asking is, Do I basically pay for what I get when I choose a hotel? Seems like Circus Circus and Flamingo are pretty cheap, should I not stay there? Is staying at the Bellagio or whatev that much better than a cheaper place like the Flamingo? The gf is underage so she will mostly just be taking pics and putting them on facebook, so we need a pretty hotel.

The Wynn is a pretty hotel. Yes, it is different than the Flamingo.

Yes and no. You have access to any hotel so that really ought not be a concern too much about where you stay.

It just depends when you are going. Some weekdays the difference in price is IP $25, Venetian $109, Bellagio $90 or something like that. Other times its IP $75, Venetian $250, Bellagio $400. So it just depends. And yes, there really is that big a difference in price and in quality.

BTW, you do know that all the main center strip hotels are within super easy walking distance of each other, right?

Anyway, check out the reviews on tripadvisor and cheapo vegas. If you want super cheap, I think Sahara is best quality rooms for super cheap, but you will need to take the monorail everywhere cause its far.

If you want a better location, with inexpensive rooms....how important is a pool? Ballys north tower and Bills have decent rooms. But no pool at Bills and old school pool at Ballys. Flamingo's basic rooms have seen better days, but the grounds are gorgeous and the pool is pretty awesome. Again, see trip advisor for pics.

If you want nice nice digs, I recommend Palazzo over Wynn. It's often cheaper and the rooms are overall nicer and larger. Sign up your email address and also learn how to use hotwire and be able to distinguish Trump from Wynn/Venetian/Encore/Palazzo.

First, thank you very much. I have been looking around all day for room rates and whatnot.
I think a pool is pretty much mandatory since my gf is underage. I imagine we will spend a lot of time at the pool since it is summer, so a nicer pool is a huge plus. We are driving, but I think we both would rather be on the strip (I say this with little knowledge on the topic); we want to be able to be in the middle of everything, if that makes sense. I'm gonna go check out the sites you suggested, but I looked at hotels.com and they have some good deals. So far I am thinking IP, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Rio, Flamingo, Luxor, and Monte Carlo. Are all those pretty much the same as far as niceness and prettiness goes?
