jpoker, i quit my tech job in 2016 to travel and got my income via gambool

at the time i was actively recruited by headhunters for vp/head of product type rolls, asked to speak at conferences, quoted in the media

fast forward to 2022, i decide it's time to reclaim my throne

i'm now a persona non grata, can't even score an interview for a junior level position - which i only began applying for after about a year of getting humbled

major factor is that tech is going down the drain right now after a big bubble

but do not discount how much just leaving your career will poison the well - don't tread lightly assuming you can pick up your old career where you left off

I'm thinking of doing a solo Vegas trip this year. I want to play a cheap WSOP event, but I would mainly be playing cash games (1/2 and 1/3).

What are cash games on the strip like during the series, in terms of availability/waiting lists? Are they better or worse early on (say, early June) than later in the series?

All you can eat... wait lists towards the weekends can be more substantial than a line for the Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland.

they probably get 'slightly' less impactful as the large field tournaments start sucking up all the dead money walking around... but they are still busy.

Wait lists can be between 10 and 90 people long. some of the busier rooms don't accept phone ins. it will stay busy pretty much the entire time

When I was there for 2021 WSOP, Wynn was really good later in the afternoon, early evening at converting tourney tables to cash tables ASAP and getting games up and running. Bellagio was a **** show.

Yea there is no way I could pick up old career- if I was fired today- I probably would have to take a pay cut to get a job and might have to go into accounting which my college degree is in (I currently work in engineering/ design type work of simple projects- have a 2 year college degree in electric power technology my company paid for: also have a 4 year accounting degree that has not gotten any use . ).

Yea before I move on, I would probably have a solid part time gig lined up and a lot of money in bank. I’m prolly going to sit on this for 10-15 years as it’s a bad life move if I fail. I might as well just visit Vegas on vacation now while still printing money at job. If I get bored in 40s, I can always move to vegas and maybe do Uber or amazon flex a few days a week and gamble other days and see if I can make poker a small income. Most likely I won’t do this with current job unless I have huge windfall and can buy a condo in full cash + have a big sum of money for a bankroll / safety slush fund,

I've played at almost all the poker rooms on Poker Atlas now. Are there some other ones not listed there that I should check out?

why don't you make a list of where you've been rather than wait for us to guess

there are a lot of rooms, but it is a finite number

Today, I made the pilgrimage to the end of Zzyxz Rd to achieve maximum enlightenment.

Anyone making the drive to/from Las Vegas & Southern California on I-15 should get this reference. If not, you must always be aware of your surroundings to achieve the best within yourself.

Any questions?

would guess 3-4 miles.

It is an easy drive on a well-maintained road. the only caveats are the road is narrow in a couple of places for a short distance and one small section (1/10 mile-ish) is not paved and subject to flooding. So if there has been heavy rain recently in the area u would want to avoid.

Hey guys, I got a gold card from the Bellagio poker room in December. I'm a Euro so I haven't been there since. I just booked a trip to Vegas and apparently they took the gold card status off me as of February 1st. Is this normal? I feel like I should have had the status for 1 year.

if you get gold/platinum strictly from poker , it resets February 1st. next time mix some slot play as well as that might stop that.
