I think this is the crux of the 2+2 playing style, which is separated from LAG or TAG styles, which I'm coining AAG, analytic aggressive. We seem to be the one (or one of very few) player at the table constantly analyzing our opponents and looking for exploitable traits. You obviously do a good job at it, with what appears to be a good win rate without many showdowns. This is how we crush our opponents, nits can't stand us and fish are utterly confused.
I had a lady pick up pocket aces against me the other night. She was a tourist from NJ who was playing super tight while her husband was on auto-lose mode. I had pocket JJ and called her 20$ PFR. I took a flop, since I was sitting on 300bbs I thought set mining was fine, came out 724r. I bet 30$ and she shoves 100$ more in. I said, "nice pocket aces, I'm not gonna call that". She literally jumps out of her chair and starts yelling, "I've been watching you all night, all you do is bet bet bet, you're a betting machine, you're not gonna beat me this time!!" And shows her AA after I muck. I chuckled and said, "great hand lady, you really got me that time".
It's this image that we have, "bet bet bet relentlessly" and win many good sized pots without showing down many hands. What they don't know, is we often have air and they can't fathom betting without the nuts. When we bet with close to optimal frequency, we crush out opponents. That's all we need to do, bet, call, or raise with better frequencies than them and we profit.
Cheese, if you don't mind me asking, what's your winrate at 1/2 1/3 these days? I just feel like we play a similar game and would like to compare.
As always, good stuff man.
