"I bet $500 I am right and you are wrong!" The moment I shouted these words I knew I had made a mistake. Not because I was wrong, I was clearly right, but because the tone I used and the size of the bet was going to intimidate the potential sucker. A calmer $50-$100 bet had a better chance of being accepted.
I also knew I had run out of patience. I knew I needed to get out of this casino, get out of this town.

So, Las Vegas, here I come.
I have a one-way ticket arriving at LAS at 7pm tonight. I am staying at the Monte Carlo to start and will leave when I am broke or bored.

Please lower your expectations. I am lame, lazy, and unmotivated. Without massive outside intrusion I will fail miserably in the epic, degenerate escapades readers hope for in every trip report.

But I do have goals:
Keep this a live tr (might as well start with the impossible goals and get easier from there)
Lose a large all-in pot to a contributor to LVL
Go to some interesting restaurants (this goal is always trumped by my laziness)
Visit Tag Bar at The Linq Hotel and the center bar at The Cromwell to try some intersting beers
Play Sigma Derby at the MGM
I will also play some poker, video poker and craps. A clear indicator of how my trip is going will be whether I am betting the Do or the Don't.

I bought my ticket for $225 this morning. I'm currently connecting through Nashville and they are offering me all of my money back plus $300, all in travel vouchers, if I take a later flight that connects through Denver. I think I'm going to pass on the offer.

Tag Bar, Sigma Derby, Video Poker and Craps. Throw in some Pai Gow and we can get married by Elvis. Fun times ahead!!

So I counter offered: put the $225 back on my card, the $300 voucher, and A level boarding for both flights. The gate agent said "No" but had my name and itinerary. I think there were several no shows and nobody was bumped.

I checked in to the Monte Carlo, the room is a little disappointing, but it is cheap.



Laziness got hold of me and I went to the brew pub for a quick dinner. Another poster recently did a fairly accurate tr on this place so I really have nothing to add other than they do carry several local beers other than their own. You might need to ask for them.



A huge hurdle to a live trip report is I have no cell signal in my room, MC only had wired internet, and I only have weak cell signal everywhere I have been in the casino.

Tag for updates. So to be clear you are by yourself on and opened ended trip. Any ideas on how long you might stay? A week, a month? No job to get back to?

Never stayed at Monte Carlo but room looks ok. Is it dingy/dirty or just not luxurious?

Thanks for the picks Canoe and Cowboy, but the lines at the books were already absurd at 8:30. If the lines die down I'm going to try to get a bet in on the later games.

Convenience wins again, but I am living large:

I went to play the overnight 1-3 plo game at Aria this morning . The 4 hours of sleep I got were 4 more than at least 6 of the other players. I played until the night shift was replaced by the day shift. I took a small loss. I should have taken a picture when I was up. Nothing of interest happened other than seeing a group of guys outside the Aria sports bar that brought their own case of beer, alcohol and shot glasses.

After deliberate line shopping and careful consideration, I chose the book in my hotel.

I'm sure other people have done reviews so I will only add that the steak was a really good piece of meat. Be careful with temperatures when you order. I went slightly cooler than I like and it came out perfect. Everything else was nice but not spectacular. $110 with two draft beers.

Some of these jockeys shouldn't even be cleaning stalls.
