Look, I don't consider myself a professional. I don't do this for a living nor have any aspirations to. But in my experience the games in Vegas are much more juicy then the midwest where I play most of the time.
Vegas is more likely to have the giant whale, so the best games are better out there. But the worst games are much worse out there, too. I suspect that to survive in Vegas, you need the ability to hold your own in nitty games while waiting for massive fish to show up.
A reg-heavy game is typically a bunch of losers pushing around money. You are less likely to stack someone with TPTK (and in some places, you are probably getting stacked if you get it in with that hand), but you can get a steady stream from all of your opponents' leaks. It's just not exciting for some people to play in a game where you can grind out consistent modest wins by playing small-pot poker.
