Boski, I got a couple straight razor shaves in Turkey and they were outstanding, no pain whatsoever after. They also singe ear hair with a flaming cloth (no pain).
Last year I tried a straight razor shave in Mexico and it was horrible, definitely a ton of irritation and it took 45 minutes to an hour.
Another notable piece of information is that in Turkey all my straight razor shaves were done by men who were experienced barbers and the poor shave was from a woman in Mexico who worked at a barber shop. I see that a woman gave you the razor as well. I'll let my fellow 2 plus 2ers draw their own conclusions as to which gender should be performing these shaves.
Cincinnati. 100 year old Italian Barber dude. Had an big brass antique steam machine to do the hot towels on the face thing. Cigar store next door. This is called living the man life.
The majority of the comments say that I need to go to a barber that is male, age 50-70, preferably from Italy or Turkey. Allegedly they will shave me in under 15 minutes with no bleeding or irritation.

Would never get a straight-razor shave in a public barber shop - you're just asking to get Hepatitis, esp in a place like Vegas. They soak the razors in Barbicide but that's not 100% effective as a contact-based virucide.

I am still scarred from my first experience.
I can’t speak for Italian Barbershops but I would recommend a Turkish Barbershop with hot towel treatment. I have sensitive skin so it still feels sensitive after the shave but much better than doing it yourself.
Btw, they use a new disposable razor on each shave.
Enough to get a new car a little while back, take a really long vacation, move to a nicer place, and buy all kinds of nice things.
This is what happens when you don't drink, don't smoke, sleep on a mattress on the floor, eat comped fast food, don't go anywhere, have no hobbies, basically all the things that Trooper gets constantly criticized for in this thread.
(Although now he doesn't have No Girlfriend on the list so he could be headed for trouble)

Yeah over here, the UK, it's almost always Turkish barbers that offer this. Never heard of anyone having a problem although I've never tried it myself.
Besides trooper Thursday’s, is this the end of trooper grinding poker on the strip?
I would not be surprised if another big life change is that he has gotten a job doing freelance video editing or something along those lines. Assuming gun girl also works it begs the question what Trooper has been doing with his time since he is not vlogging and playing poker and some type of freelance work makes the most sense given that he is clearly not broke and has a skill set that lends itself well to freelancing. Plus it fits in with his desire not to have a traditional job and remain his own boss.
It's cool that Tim is happy. But, does anyone really want to spend 15 minutes watching him drink coffee, make a salad, make more coffee, chat with his lady friend? If Tim was a 20 year old hot chick who was doing this naked, I'd subscribe. But, the current format is a hard pass from me personally.

Needs to be an old dude, or at least dude. I've gotten shaves a few times from Ernesto at the barber shop upstairs at the El Cortez. If he's still around I'd give him a shot.

Don't forget the big snack of eating super hot Doritos.
Trooper shared some interesting details of when they met in the beach vlog, which might provide some insight into how they met.
At 4:27 he says they met 11 1/2 months ago, but she moved to Vegas 9 1/2 months ago. So perhaps they met online, or during a visit to vegas.
If you remember there was a vlog about a year ago where he said he was helping a friend find a place in Vegas. I think it included a scene from a drive-thru showing a woman in the driver's seat order some food.
We as poker players shouldn't be discouraging women who want to go into the field of straight razor shaving. We're just reinforcing old-fashioned chauvinistic stereotypes where the only role for women was to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. I suppose we should also keep them out of the army, and have separate professional basketball leagues. (with unequal pay to boot)
In fact, because we as a society have held back these lady barbers for so long, I think its time to bring social justice to the industry by being vocally critical and even boycotting these male straight razor barbers. We must call them out for the privileges they have unfairly enjoyed for so long due to their gender. Italian and Turkish males with light skin complexions being the biggest beneficiaries from this long standing war against women.
It's time we as poker players do what's needed to support female barbers (and gender-neutral barbers) and stop patronizing these popular toxic male barber shops that still provide a daily reminder of the Euro-centric male patriarchy.
LOL, no. Nobody pays MSRP for overpriced appliances. Even a non-discount place such as Williams Sonoma sells that exact same "$1,200 coffee machine" for $799.
