We have a Fine Dining thread and it is a must read for any one going to Vegas.

I thought it might be a good idea to start a fine drinking thread.

Post about your favorite Vegas drinks, favorite drinking spots, specialty drinks, good happy hour deals, great service etc etc...

I am generally ordering standard stuff like Crown Royal and seven, Canadian beer if available (go ahead call me a hoser), and the odd Scotch but I can see my horizons expanding with ideas in this thread. Fire away.

Recently had 2 new drinks as far as what I'm used to normally ordering Rusty nail is my typical poker room beverage as I'm usually playing after dinner.

Had a Dark and Stormy and a Beautiful last week at Aria and Bellagio

The Beautiful made for a great after dinner digestif and would be interested to know what other digestifs are available at the top rooms

I really wish I remembered what they made me at The Laundry Room Downtown. Girl just asked me a bunch of questions and blew my mind with a bourbon drink

I love my bourbon drinks, and after reading an article on the head bartender at Delmonico Steakhouse at the Venetian I had to give it a try. Luckily he was there and I just told him to take me on the tour; I definitely wasn't disappointed. He made up both elaborate and simple mixed drinks, and after going back a few nights later with some buddies he was able to provide a whole new selection as well as gin drinks for the heretical non-bourbon loving friend.

Highly recommended.

I am going to really enjoy this thread. I drink classy, and I drink A LOT.

I'll start off with some recommendations for various types of drinking establishments:

Casino bar (w/video poker): Book & Stage at Cosmo, because they have good specialty cocktails. Moderno at Aria, because they have a good selection of whiskey and know how to use it. Laguna Champagne Bar at Palazzo- don't know why, I just like the atmosphere.

Casino bar (non video poker): Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan. My rule of thumb for spotting a bar that knows what they're doing is if they stir instead of shake a gin martini without asking. Cosmo does this.

Restaurant bars: Sage has perhaps the best specialty cocktail program of any restaurant on the strip. Cut knows how to make a perfect classic cocktail of any kind. American Fish for a great whiskey cocktail, and StripSteak or Craftsteak if you want to choose from a billion scotches.

Nightclubs: I'm not a $500 Grey Goose and Red Bull guy, so I have no ****ing idea.

What about the beer? And I mean beyond Bud-Miller-Coors.

Are there any places with a good craft beer selection on the strip?

A few with decent, but nothing spectacular on the strip. Off there are a couple of good choices Aces and Ales, Khoury's Fine wine (actually a liquor store with about 6 taps), and Freakin' Frog.

On the Strip:

Public House (in between Venietian and Palazzo), Burger Bar (in between Mandalay Bay and Luxor), Todd's English Pub (Aria), and Holstein's (Cosmopolitian) off the top of my head and in a hurry.

Nice drinks

Vespar (Cosmo, by lobby) and Hyde (Bellagio) are two of my semi-frequent stops.

Hyde has a drink that is made with a Bell Pepper that is good.

I drink like a girl most of the times so my input isn't really valid, but Bellagio makes a killer Rock Lobster. Cranberry, crown royal, and Chambord.

5fifty, the new pizza place which is a 10 second walk from the Aria poker room, as a pretty damn good beer list. Nothing exotic, but more than enough to be happy about.

Its close enough to the poker room that, on my last time there, folded a hand UTG+2 preflop, got up, walked over there, ordered and paid for a Old Rasputin on draft, walked back and sat down in time for the next hand.

Yeah, not free, but still +EV in my book.

Well Glenfiddich is paint thinner so maybe they were doing you a favor

The better rooms will comp Macallan (Venetian, Wynn, Aria absolutely will, I'm sure Bellagio will too). I've ordered Glenmorangie at Venetian, so if they have other premium single malts at the level above Glenfiddich/Glenlivet (where Macallan 12 is), you might be able to get that.

Bellagio and Aria- and possibly other MGM properties- will comp up to $15 retail value of the drink. You will always be able to get Macallan 12 and never 18 unless you run/tip good.

I had a screed about MGM Grand awhile ago because of a couple things:

1. They wouldn't comp higher than Glenlivet.

2. They wouldn't serve it neat, because the ****ing morons don't know the difference between scotch neat and a shot of jaeger, and they have a "no shots" policy.

They may have changed policies and serve better scotch now, but **** them anyway.

Old Rasputin is +EV for the soul. Thanks for the info I'm definitely going to hit that up.

I ran into this at MGM Grand also. And when I was there they wouldn't comp above Red Label whereas MB on same trip served Glenmorangie

Eco, why the hate for Glenfiddich? I guess you prefer the Highlands over the Speysides?

As someone said earlier the freaking frog is the place to go for whiskey and beers. Biggest selection in the USA (allegedly) and an amazing separate whiskey bar. They'll give you a tour of the beer cellar is you ask, literally thousands of different beers.

Prob 8-10mins from strip in taxi but well worth it!

Btw looks terrible from the outside

Definetely well worth the time for a visit, directly across from UNLV.

for me... I USUALLY just go to lee's liquor or total wine and drink at home, no sense in getting trashed out in the field.

Glenfiddich tastes to me like the cheapest, lowest-rung single malt that it is. There are some Speysides that I like (Balvenie is really good) but generally I prefer Islay over all else, but like some Islands and Highlands.
