so maybe there'll be a tr while I'm flying solo

see how I'm going

I'll be in Vegas from the 1st to the 6th of May, give me a shout if you fancy some poker/drinks/food.

Travelling solo so happy to catch up with any 2+2ers who want to join for a meal tbh, open to suggestions if the places I'm going don't appeal.

I don't think that's going to be a problem.

I started my own business a couple weeks ago so at the moment my schedule is much more flexible than it was in the past.

Going to Carversteak at Resorts World on Saturday night, mixed reviews from TA/yelp folks but friends who have been were fans so we'll see.

Interested to hear about that one. I've been asked about it by several people over the last couple of weeks because Patrick Mahomes went there with his bachelor party.

The website shows a cake cutting fee of $15/guest. I don't think I've ever seen that before or considered bringing my own (birthday?) cake to a restaurant.

LOL, that's a liberty. Apparently you can (could?) bring your own wine but they charge a corkage of $50 per bottle.

I'm teetotal these days (essentially, have had I think 3 drinks the last 15 months or so), so not a problem for me. If I do ok at the poker table this week I suspect I go a little nuts at Carversteak.....

I had the Filet Mignon and some drinks at Carversteak and it was great. I am not a steak expert but I really appreciated a steak that just nicely done. The right amount of seasoning and cooked right. I am curious to know what you make of it. I am going to take my wife again later this week. Also, the ratings on Yelp are pretty good overall.

That's pretty standard at fine dining restaurants. $50 is also in line with comparable places.

Recommendations for short-notice mid-week solo dining on the Strip? Context is I need a place later this month to go and brood about how poorly I played after busting from a circuit event at Bally's. The ambiance I am looking for is a quiet place to hate myself while enjoying a fancy cocktail and a sumptuous meal.

Any buzz about 20k leagues? It came up in my feed and looks interesting. I hoped to visit Lost Spirits, but never got the chance.

They cancelled my reservation less than 2 hours before due to technical difficulties, apparently had to finish up everyone who was already seated and shut down. Sucks, but what can you do.

They gave me a $300 voucher to spend next time I'm in town though, which means I will still spend the same amount out of pocket there but just send it the **** in. Check will just come to $800 instead of $500.

I've been to the OG Nomad in NYC a number of times for work. Always enjoyable, way more enjoyable when someone else is paying.

Recall having a nice dinner there when it opened, Nov 18. Might have written it up, I think overall it was good. Don’t recall much except the chicken, but here’s what we got if it helps. We were happy enough w the food. Wasn’t cheap.

Thanks the menu seems limited as well but I am a fussy eater

Spending almost $100 on a chicken sounds pretty darn ridiculous. That had better be the best damn chicken ever. And even then....really?

it's for two, truffles under the skin, etc. It's actually a signature dish of theirs iirc. It was good. Is it $100 good? I don't know. If you back out the 30-40% strip premium is it a $70 dish? Maybe. But I think you'll enjoy eating it, price aside.

It's fantastic. It's also for 2. $50 a person is not a lot for an entree in a fine dining restaurant.

However, as I said before, much better when someone else is paying. It's essentially a whole chicken prepared 2 ways with truffles etc. I basically never order chicken (at NoMad when work is paying, and at Gather in Chicago are only two) but it was legitimately delicious.
