Son: In case you decide not to do nobu for some reason, Jaleo is a little bit more casual, but also a great choice for what you're looking for.

Rbk: you obv have great taste but suck at reading - your first two additional recs were things I mentioned

Going to Vegas in about a month and looking for a Brazilian steakhouse or at least something along those lines.

I'm leaning towards just staying safe with Fogo de Chao, but does anyone have other recommendations?

lol they weren't additional recs those are just the items that MUST be ordered imo (I realized it might come off like that due to my poor wording, but I just wanted to list everything I thought was a must order and didn't want to leave them off just cuz you mentioned them as better for him to see multiple ppl recommend them so he knows how great they are).

My cousin recommended Julian Serrano as an alternative. Thoughts on them vs. Jaleo?

Julian Serrano is a great restaurant, but I'd recommend Jaleo for a group of guys out partying. JS is brightly lit, spacious, relatively quiet. Jaleo is darker, lower ceilings, louder music. The menus are pretty similar but JS leans a little more towards dainty little bites of seafood and Jaleo has more greasy meaty things slathered in mayo. Jaleo has awesome cocktails. JS has an awesome sherry by the glass list.

Son,

What Ike said. I've been to jaleo a bunch of times and JS once. JS feels a little more high-end, jaleo a more fun vibe.

Sushi Samba is a great place for a larger party. If you go, get the Hot Rock.

Here's a general question/discussion topic I'll throw out there: seemingly popular (or at least long-lived, which means they're doing something right) restaurants with good real estate that nobody ever talks about. What makes them undiscussed but still hanging around? Some examples:

Aquaknox at Venetian
Canaletto at Venetian
Morel's at Palazzo
That weird car place at Palazzo
Le Cirque at Bellagio
Sensi at Bellagio
The Brazilian steak place at Mirage

And any number of others. I'm not mentioning the overpriced Chinese places, I know who those are there for. Who among us is going to the rest?

Aquaknox at Venetian, are they still in business? Meh.

Eco,

Gamblers, tourists, and convention-goers who aren't EV-maximization-focused foodies?

My brother and I ate there last year. It was OK. It was also half empty on a Friday night.

The Mirage has been doing some odd things over the last 5 or so years with their restaurants, like having a BB King "coffee shop" that was insanely overpriced and crappy, then having no coffee shop AFAIK. They spent a pile of money renovating their steakhouse, then shut it down and reopened a "branded" one by some allegedly famous guy which apparently isn't very good. I don't know that any of their restaurants go beyond the "meh" level, which, come to think of it, is about where their property is now. I think El D is right - they seem happy to be good enough for the people staying there, but they're not trying to be a destination for restaurant goers.

stayed at the P/V only for conferences.. eaten all around the hotel on other peoples expense accounts all week, that's who's paying the rent IMO. The Aquanox and the ones around it are especially packed by conference centre attendees..

All those places are nothing special but serve expensive high quality boring food so stay in business because rich people go there and order safely.

Le cirque is legit though. I really like it but not more than other places in price bracket.

Hey Chada addicts - we're going to head out to Chada for dinner on Wednesday the 11th, probably sometime around 8pm or so. Meeting up at the Bellagio beforehand a little before 7pm for for a charity roulette spin at 7pm sharp in the high limit room. Details of the spin are in this thread if you want to show up for that as well and degen a few bucks on one of the charities' numbers.

I went to Guy Savoy last year. Was really impressed with everything. It was a bit too expensive though. Tasting menu with wine was like $500 a man. And that was about as cheap as I could get out of there. Still, they didn't rush us or talk down to us. The tall server especially was super professional and friendly. We were seated next to a Latino 50 something and his 20 something American piece. The place in general seemed super private and someplace you'd want to be if you didn't want anybody to see you. Would go again. Not sure I'd pay again. It was all traditional, amazing French food. But I didn't find anything there that really wowed me. I liked Joël Robuchon better. Cozier, more creative, friendlier. Though Savoy was a solid A- and JR was an A. So I'm nitpicking.

I'd go back to L'Atelier or Picasso before I went back to either of them. Even gratis.

Le Cirque is a strange one to me because I certainly know of their NY rep and know it's legit, and it's been at Bellagio since day one. Yet it never seems to be recommended.

Eco,

Le cirque is more of an old school place that people go to for the name/reputation, but it's not really looked at as in the top tier of NYC fine dining anymore by the foodie crowd. I imagine the vegas location is prob similar.

Guy Savoy is great at what they do. Robuchon or Savoy are the places to go if you want an all out, maximum opulence, fancy French meal in Vegas and are willing to pay accordingly.

That's not a thing I, or seemingly many other people ITT, want very often so it seems not to come up much. But if that's what you're going for, Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon absolutely nail it.

I've not. I'm heading back this summer though and will check it out. The name has always been off putting for me. Like a bad nightclub. I know that's an awful reason but there you have it.
