You guys are crazy. Go a la carte at Raku and get the specials of the day then fill it out with some grilled items off regular menu. Also get the tofu. All cold if you are a true connosseur, half/half if its your first time.

I don't understand the expensive and boring complaints.

L'atellier at MGM is nice without being pretentious. Also would be a nice change of pace for you food wise

Seconded, L'Atelier is fantastic. Make sure you get the bar seating though, that's kind of their "thing".

Short TR with pics from Kabuto.

Cliffs: Like someone suggested earlier itt, even as a first time visitor I think going for the cheap nigiri omakase and then ordering more nigiri a la carte is a winner. The nigiri is absolutely amazing and the stuff from the grill etc is not stuff I think you need to try.

I agree. Always get the specials and some of the fresh fish done half/half (sushi/grilled). But whatever, it's so flexible. Can have dinner there for $25 or a special event type dinner and it excels at both.

I chose Mundo for my last nice meal in Vegas. Raku is at the top of the list. Likely with jstarda9 and/or Henry_Sugar!

Zen Japanese Curry
Raku Sweets
Kabuto
Trattoria Nakamura-ya

IN THE SAME ****ING STRIP MALL

Then within a block in any direction:

Honey Pig
Chada Thai (arguably the best restaurant in Las Vegas imo)
Ichiza

If you offered me a free $100 meal at any of the above restaurants I would snap accept and take you to Chada and get way more food that tastes way better with better service than going to Raku.

Are you talking specifically about the Kaiseki? If so, I can kinda see where you're coming from, though I still don't agree.

The ala carte menu is reasonble, even cheap, with the exception of the imported fish specials, IMO.

Need help pushing me towards a restaurant.

I organize our guys trip during football season. Usually eat one blowout dinner per trip. We may be louder and more boisterous than normal fine dining experiences depending upon results to that point and alcohol consumption. The group has done (from most to least favorite as determined by the group) CUT, é by Jose Andrés, American Fish, Carnevino and Stack (lol). Not everyone is an adventurous eater though (é was not high on their list).

Dinner needs to be on the strip and someplace where a group of 4-8 guys can carry on a conversation without overly intruding on others' experience. Currently debating between Sage, Joel Robuchon, SW, Sinatra and Jaleo for this year's big dinner. Would like to avoid repeating a previous choice. I have no experience in any of those listed except for SW. I assume Jaleo is something like a toned down version of the backroom experience.

Thoughts?

^^^^ I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.

But if I was going, I would vote for Country Club at Wynn and sit outside. I usually make a meal off of the appetizer menu.

Country Club

I'd pick SW. We did a group of 10 there for my birthday and had a large round table. We were quite loud and didn't bother anybody. Plus, they serve a consistently outstanding steak.

I endorse this selection. One of the most underrated places in Vegas, and I've been there with 7 boisterous *******s (they sat us in front, in the huge bar/lounge they have).

Sage is also a fine choice, it's not a particularly hush hush place. SW, also a good choice.

Will give you Kabuto.

I live at Jones/Spr Mtn and eat at these places regularly. Ichiza is better in a pinch due to absurd value/price point, but Raku is a better meal. I prefer it to Chada but at least I can understand the point.

Zen isn't even in the same conversation IMO and at any rate is a totally different type of experience. TN-Y has great appetizers but their pasta is generally way too bland, including the uni specialty imo. Hard to even consider a dessert place as a viable alternative.

Been reading back pages of this thread for a bit now and Sinatra in particular gets almost no attention. Is it just not very good?

Adding Country Club to the list. I've walked through there before just exploring Wynn, but never eaten there. Pretty much just forget about it, TBH.

Close race between Country Club, SW, Sage and Joel Robuchon. Probably going to plan on one of the first three and book a back up reservation at JR to be used if the group is doing well and doesn't mind dropping some extra coin for dinner. It's my understanding that it would be the most expensive of those 4, correct?

While we are on the subject, has anyone been to Country Club on Sunday for their Jazz Brunch? Worth the price etc...

I haven't been. It's one of those restaurants that doesn't get attention because it doesn't seem to offer anything unique. Just looks like a standard Italian joint with Wynn prices. I'd guess it doesn't suck though, but I suspect it doesn't raise the bar either.
