The whole anchovies looks like the only thing they did right.

agree, I prefer whole anchovies.

The rest of those pictures were heinous, though if you told me the onion soup was delicious, I'd believe it.

agree to disagree about the anchovy thing. uneven distribution of it from bite to bite that would lead to too much in some bites / not enough in others would kill it for me (or the additional effort in ensuring this doesn't occur would)

it would be pretty hard for me to dislike a french onion soup though

I've never seen boiled steak before. Doesn't look great.

Wow that's disgusting, I would let all of that go back immediately, not pay a dime and leave instantly obv. They could call themselves happy not having to reimburse my wasted time.

Can anyone recommend some places with good tasting menus? I want to limit my decision making and maximize my ability to sample as much food as possible

Ate at Alinea in Chicago on Friday. Pretty great stuff. More later if I can find time, I do have many photos.

Very jealous. I could never find enough people to go with when I've been there. They are profiled a little bit in the documentary spinning plates that hopefully gets a wider release soon.

The answer could change a lot based on budget. For cheaper but still amazing, Picasso. For maximum number of courses but pretty expensive, go E at Jaleo.

Since Clark mentioned Alinea and maybe this doesn't have to be strictly LV, I got a sort of private tour of Eleven Madison Park a little while ago and took a few pictures. No food, but I thought people might be interested anyway.

From outside:

Main dining room:

Kitchen (the entrance is hidden behind a false panel in a wall along one of the corridors):

Private dining room upstairs:

Bar area:

I also went to Daniel (I apologize for the picture quality, the dining room is pretty dark, and I don't use flash in restaurants):

Cocktail (I don't even remember what this was at this point, something with elderberry, pretty good though):

Carrots 3 ways:

White asparagus:

Fennel ravioli with langoustines:

Chorizo wrapped monkfish stuffed lobster:

Duo of beef, wagyu tenderloin with smoked bone marrow and braised short ribs:

Black sea bass, kale flan:

Pistachio dacquoise:

Mignardises:

Nice pictures
EMP is one of the better meals I've had and definitely the best I've had in NYC.

How much less expensive is Picasso than E? I spent 300 at Picasso on a fairly routine fine dining experience. I guessi didn't realize E was so costly.

E is about that with wine pairings.

I think e is up to like $280 for dinner and $150 for pairings, but I could be wrong.

Robuchon is tastier IMO. e is more about technique and the show.

Mine was 577.73 all in for 2. I think we had 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine, no pairings. This was May 2013.

Since it's the not-just-LV fine dining thread, who has good suggestions for Amsterdam and/or Paris?

And, Country Club at Wynn update, since I'm always pimping that place.

Went Saturday night. Not a huge meal since I'm not a huge person, but we had oysters, two steaks and fries between the two of us. Regarding the steaks- the GF had their special, which was a truffle-rubbed filet or something or other, and it really was perfect. I had the chile-rubbed wagyu, which was very tasty but they overdid it with the chili and oil. I would have liked it better if it were more subtle. Service and atmosphere remain outstanding.
