I have a super elite Roberto's right by my house. 24 hours and they make a very good carne asada burrito.

Clarky,

Get a lengua burrito next time. Second most elite burrito after chicharrones burrito, which you will only find at the most legit of places.

I can't understand how/why Roberto's gets love ever. 24 hours is good but their food is not very good. Breakfast burrito is the only decent thing I've ever had there

Roberto's isn't 'good' Mexican food by any stretch, but it serves a dutiful purpose in satisfying late night and last minute cravings that only a taco shop can deliver. In a lot of neighborhoods, it's the best option without having to travel to the ghetto for a somewhat decent burrito or taco. True, their meat isn't great, and toppings are sub par, but when the craving hits for a gut busting chimichanga plate, it's always there.

We've had a Roberto's in Southern Highlands for years, and I admit, I'll still eat it about twice a month. A Don Tortaco's just moved in on the same block, and their food is actually tastier by far. The carne is much better seasoned, and the guacamole is actually real, thick, and well seasoned. It's basically a direct copy of Roberto's menu that has a drive thru window which is a huge draw. It's faster than a taco truck.

I'd still rather eat at either of these places than any mega corporate fast food joint. At least the cooks are making the food and not just defrosting it.

I'll have to side with BaconMaker here. For a late-night chimmy craving Roberto's delivers the goods.

I also prefer Don Tortaco over Robertos by far.

I just left Rollin Smoke, where I split a 13.99 sampler plate. The Brisket was outstanding, amongst the best i have had. I had a bite of an outlaw burger and it was pretty good as well. The mac and cheese side was very good as well. I will definitely take guests there. 2 thumbs up from this fat guy lol.

Tacos el Gordo FTW. From top left clockwise, adobada, lingua, cabesa, carne asada. These are as authentic as you can get anywhere north of the Tijuana border. Simply amazing.

check out tacos el compita. Tacos el gordo is good too though. Roberto's is saved for when you're really drunk at 5am and are trying to break the high score for bad decisions in a night.

if so, their meat is okay but not great. I by stuff there some what often, but I wouldn't rank them very high.

I've been working in the Jones/Desert Inn area for a couple months now, & I have failed hard at finding good quick to go lunch options in the area. It's right by Chinatown, & I know of which are the better dining places, but not sure which of them should be good for something reasonably priced & quick, but still tasty.

I always end up at like Subway, Port O Subs, Sonic, McDonald's & Einstein's, with an occasional BK, Taco Bell, Arby's, or Popeyes, & it's sad & pathetic.

Plz help.

Monta Ramen is closeish and really good. I'm sure there's a capriotti's or chipotle around there as well.

I dunno if you want korean BBQ for lunch but there are a bunch of good korean bbq places in chinatown you might enjoy.

Also, you should check out the food meetup thread. Would be good to have you there next thursday.

Thanks, will check out Monta Ramen for sure next week. Not sure about Korean BBQ for lunch. It's tasty, but doesn't seem to be quite right.

Actually haven't seen a Capriotti's or Chipotle anywhere nearby, but I could GPS sometime.

I saw the thread, but after work I have to pick up my son at daycare & not sure when my wife works until that day, so can't make any commitments, but I would definitely like to come to one of these.

El Compita has best carne asada in town. Really good pastor and mole enchiladas too

Definitely seems worth checking out. Lunches planned for this week so far:

*Monta Ramen
*Al's
*Rubio's (found out there's one 3.5 miles from office)

I would offer to meet up with anyone who wanted to, but have had way too much work to properly take advantage of lunch "hour".

If anyone needs a Nevada divorce or would like custody of some children tho...
