upwards of $3k personally

10 x $300 would give you enough to play, but thats based on 2 buy ins per day, with days put aside for not playing and doing the sights.

me personally, i would want to take $4500 + spending money, but on a short trip i can imagine funds get rolled into one.

it all depends on how much you will spend on going out, eating out, etc etc

venitian, mgm, rio, aria

the above will have 1/2 or 1/3 and will be very very busy. try all of them, each has its own pro's and cons, depends which you prefer. dont bother the bellagio, as it has a $200 max buy in

4-5k is probably about right. That way you can take a few beats and not have it affect you. I don't care how much money in the bank I have there's something about running out of cash on hand that makes me play differently.

Bad advice, $4-5k is the only correct answer.

This is exactly why theoretically, if you're a decent enough player, you won't have many 10 buyin downswings in just one week. But you could have a 3-4 one, so therefor having that "insurance money" behind, you won't play poorly thinking "crap I gotta make this last" etc.

lol no way u need more than 3k just for poker if those stakes are all your playing. 1/2 and 1/3 are usually incredibly soft and you definitely shouldnt have a 10 buy in downswing in 7 days there

One thing that bothered me with the immediate answers is no one asked how many days of the seven he was planning to play or how many hours in a day.

Wouldn't those be pertinent questions to ask before answering?

Nope. $4-5k. Maybe $4500.

On my 1st trip to Vegas I had $2500 and played poker every day, stayed at Binions every night, ate out every day (cheap on food though) and was still up $1,000 after 2 1/2 weeks. Don't listen to all these bank roll nits, $2,500 is fine unless you just plan on loosing every buy in and not win a penny.

(I did win the 2nd tourney I played (good for $4,900) when on my original trip so this really helped)

You can grind $65 tourneys at the stratosphere (best tourney in Vegas for under $100) and .50 - $1.00 NLH cash game at Bills Gambling Hall ($100 aces cracked from 10am - 2pm) if you start going to broke.
