as advertised, we were greeted at the door by the owner/head chef, hand shakes. seated and asked "do you like Thai food?" "yes?, name five Thai dishes. " then, "What was the last Thai dish you ordered?"

since my last Thai was a feast with Jimmy at Chada Thai & Wine, i offered way too much information...

He scribbled notes, said "I'll take care of you, Mr. Canada..." and one spectacular dish after another appeared center table. we were happily stuffed. The bill was <$50.

He is moving his food to Honolulu. Highly rec'd if you find yourself in the area.

I've been to Opal and found it kind of silly, particularly since he's giving pretty much the same food to everyone. Thought it was perfectly fine, nothing that special.

I'd be in for a Haleiwa Dining Thread, BTW.

what's the true cost to give that a shot?
financially, i'm guessing next to nothing.
emotionally, i'm suggesting you shouldn't give a ****.
your concern about looks (however misguided) doesn't really matter...personality and knowledge are king in that genre and you're crushing both of those. you know vegas food better than most.
be confident, enthusiastic and sincere about your knowledge of vegas food and the rest will fall in to place.
if you can make it work, bully to you.
if it doesn't, consider it just another J2o hand in EP and get ready to play the next one.

*edit: glad to see the first episode is in the can.

Not to be "that guy", but get a logo/name/catchy shtick/whatever down as soon as you can. I'm sure there are some graphic designers here more than willing to help. I honestly think this could be huge for you - especially with the Vegas pull you have. Good luck.
