Three places in Vegas that have the whiskey list-to-end-all-whiskey-lists:

1. Delmonico
2. CraftSteak
3. StripSteak

And Cut ain't shabby either.

Jimmy,

What are you rec's for the following, all on the strip:

1. Asian noodles
2. Tonkotsu ramen
3. Poke
4. Sushi

I know places will be overpriced, but I can only get my crew off the strip to hit Lotus.

Thank you, sir.

I wonder if you could bring your own bottle of single malt scotch and have them charge a corkage fee?

And I looked up a few, it's more like 1/3....unless you are getting screaming deals in which case you need to name your supplier (I use www.klwines.com)

e.g. Balvenie 21 bottle online is $200, at Delmonicos 1 serving is $62

Don't know about strip for the top 3. Those are offstrip things in general. Strip sushi there's options everywhere but I don't believe much in any of them.

Strip dining in general is at a 15 year low. I really recommend telling your guests to branch out. The travel time and cost offstrip will likely be less than to another strip location.

This links to a PDF with 43 pages of whiskey choices with prices.

So yes, I can confirm.

43 pages of whiskey seems like a limited menu.

I tried to get the guys to Chada last year, but had no luck. I think I will push harder this year. Maybe even to Lotus one night and Chada the next for comparison.

You never Ben to Fat Choy, it seems to totally be your kind of place. Figured you where part owner and used the restaurant to launder illicit poker earnings.

Thanks everyone for the scotch input (sorry my google-fu was lacking).

In appreciation, I offer our online source of choice, house of malts, https://www.houseofmalt.co.uk/ .

Quick delivery and competitive prices paired with a selection that includes unique finds alongside the usual suspects.

Ya, there are a few places I've been told I must go to that I have yet to do. Also Echo & Rig and Carson Kitchen. Just live far enough way that it hasn't come up.

Got another one you may want to add to your list. It is off the beaten path but the last time we were in town we went to The Grape Vine Cafe on Lake Mead Blvd.

It is sort of a wine bar, which may not be your thing, but everything we had was fantastic..looking forward to going back next trip..

Do they deliver to the US? I've ordered from them to continental Europe since their prices are super competitive now that the british pound went down the drain. Might order a couple things if shipping cost to the US was reasonable.

@gobbo: I know you don't really drink, but was curious if you're having a glass of wine during dinner or an aperitif/digestif sometimes?

They do....even to me in Rhode Island where stateside distilleries will not. I think it was sub $10 for our last order with super quick delivery too!

Echo and Rig is phenomenal. Spencer cut steak, crab cakes, spicy cauliflower. Also NO corkage

Nah, I really don't drink at all. Most I've done is the 2% sake at Kabuto but that doesn't really count. Can't stand the taste and I know I'd likely ruin my life if I get started.

Went to Momofuku tonight. Review will be up in the next few days. It was really incredible.

As others have said, they have probably the best selection on the strip. They also used to have a short guy with a mustache behind the bar who knew everything about scotch and could make fantastic recommendations.

I was there last weekend, and he has been replaced by an Asian girl would was basically useless for suggestions and spent most of her time chatting with people instead of serving drinks. I finally cashed out and went across the hall to Cut. Not quite the selection (but still great), but much better service.

I'm sure it's been asked somewhere, but on phone and can't search properly

Raku vs Kabuto?
JimmyEatsVegas Quote
02-08-2017 , 11:04 PM
They're nothing alike. Raku is more grill items and general Japanese non sushi items with a few raw dishes. Kabuto is just straight sushi.

I'm honestly not that big a fan of Raku but I love Kabuto.

Great stuff Jimmy, looking forward to being in Vegas this summer and using your services then. You should charge for the food hosting service. I'd definitely pay for your expertise and to not have to worry about it myself.

Taking my cousin out to Tofu Hut this afternoon. We were trying to decide between Tofu Hut and another place someone had told me is excellent (Gen Korean BBQ in Henderson), but Tofu Hut won out because it is closer to his place and the website had a review of Tofu Hut and not Gen.
