The guys making the noodles is definitely fun to watch and people were actually taking video/photos. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see it without standing up or straining your neck. Now, even though everything is made fresh, the noodle soups didn't have much flavor but the noodles had a great consistency.

It's a great tiny, intimate setting since the place is really small but the service was so-so and I felt that the food undelivered considering that I saw the guy make the noodles.

They only have a few dishes on the menu which is usually a good sign but both our dishes came out bland

Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast used to be the stone cold nuts for dim sum. I was there recently and the food had really gone downhill..very disappointing.

Has anyone else noticed that, as well, or did we just come on a bad day?

Haven't found a good dim sum place in Vegas yet. Coming from CA (SF Bay Area) and NYC, the bar is set high but nothing has stood out in LV. Recently tried Yum Cha on Decatur by Trop and the service was great (especially towards me, being white and all) but the food was just greasy and bland. Not much flavor in the typical dim sum go to's. Had 10 dishes and some of the basic stuff is a bit pricey. Their standard low level dishes are decently priced but the flavor explains the cheap price.

Any suggestions?

Ok jimmy going to try rolling smoke off our recommendation tonight. I see three locations, does it matter which one or can I expect uniformity? You're welcome to join if you want.

Sorry! Just saw this. The original is what I'd recommend, but I haven't been to the other ones, so don't really know! I've heard that Rollin Smoke quality overall is dropping.

Sorry for the hiatus y'all, need to get some more entries up.

Went to one in a seedy feeling area under a bridge. Was not disappointed.

Is Kabuto still the top choice in Vegas for affordable quality Sushi? Went 3 years ago with a friend and apparently he found out the place by reading your posts Gobbo.

From what I can tell on these boards, Kabuto is still best -- not sure for just sushi but for the omakase.

I loved Hiroyoshi (omakase -- sushi was amazing), but I have not been to Kabuto. Someone recommended Kame to me as better than both, but it's more expensive, too.

I went to rolling smoke by the pawn stars shop on sunday and it was terrible. Had beef rib (overcooked - some of it inedible) and 2 pork rib (cold, he pulled them out of a rack wrapped with saran wrap and heated them up) combo with baked beans (cold). With drink and locals discount was $21.
I'll never be back.
I like Pot Liquor as best BBQ in vegas.

That's the original. Over on strip club row.

It's definitely up there. Yui is essentially the same sushi with slightly better grill items for a more expensive price. I dunno if I call it "affordable" though when the AYCE here is so good. It's definitely the best, though!

Thanks Gobbo! Did a quick google search and there's two AYCE places a block from where I booked my AirBnB (Sakana & Yama) so probably gonna give those a try.

My favorites are Oyshi on south rainbow and Umiya. If you are anywhere near those, check those out.

Also just read your Dec article on Kabuto, makes me want to fly there right now and eat it, wow!

We'll be there March 18 - 23. Will try to get in touch. It depends on husband's conference schedule -- and if I can drag myself away from poker! Stinks living in a state with no casinos.

geez what a terrible time (economically) to schedule a conference - march madness - I have friends coming in and the cheapest rooms i can get that weekend through players clubs - Mlfe platinum and total rewards platinum - is $190 a night + BS fees at monte carlo

We're heading to Vegas for my husband's 40th birthday so obviously we need a nice meal out. He loves duck and I love steak so Delmonico seems like the obvious front runner. He is also a scotch fan and I'm not able to find a whisky listing on the website. Based on their bar accolades I ASSUME they have a nice selection, but, can anyone confirm?

When I googled "delmonicos las vegas whiskey" this was the first link.

http://emerilsrestaurants.com/articl...se-book-whisky

This links to a PDF with 43 pages of whiskey choices with prices.

So yes, I can confirm.

Delmonico has one of the most impressive scotch collections I've ever seen. One drink costs ~50% of the online price of the bottle though.
