I don't want to touch on things like the kitchen vs restaurants, etc (as I think it's either a long-term thing or if you don't really need that in your hotel). While I am not ready to give up the terrace at Cosmo just yet (although MGM may have something to say about that), it looks like a very good location, view, and space.

Thanks for the review.

Cosmo balcony def adds a huge advantage over other premium properties and the rooms themselves are great. I’m not a huge fan of the rest of the property in comparison to others but the rooms and location are hard to beat

We won't stay there again for any of our "sit by the pool" vacations, but it's perfect for me for a WSOP trip. The lack of energy of the place becomes a positive after 12 hours of 10-handed NL, and the proximity is such that if you know how to navigate, you can be back in your room in 15min from WSOP. The walkway from Vdara to Bellagio being closed was a bit of a drag, but that should be open again come fall.
The quietness is the thing I like most about Vdara. Could be a hotel for business travelers in every major city in the Western world, nothing Vegas about it.

Not only the lobby but also the pool that's mostly empty and the gym where you see people doing cardio stuff at 6AM but barely anyone the rest of the day.

Perfect place for people who think Vegas is a little bit too much like Vegas.

I really like the rest of the resort. Maybe the restaurants aren't on par with the Venetian or the Wynn, but there are some good options. I also think that Block 16 and The Henry could get you through a good portion of a week while not being overly expensive. The lack of a poker room is an issue, but it's not a far walk to one (which is the same for Vdara as well).

I also like the Identity rewards. When they switch over to MGM I'll likely stop trying to get tier status and just pay the resort fees and regular room prices, but I'll likely go to Vegas much less (which really sucks).

Marriott and MGM have entered into some kind of partnership.

"Marriott’s Autograph Collection will soon include ARIA Resort & Casino and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas."

Umm.. Cosmo has been an Autograph property for how long?

Since significantly before MGM took over operations, which was almost two years ago.

It's been at least 4. I guess fact-checkers were phased out.

You can go onto the marriott site right now and see it's an Autograph property.

Booked Vdara for my first time in Vegas for work and glad to see all these reviews. Quiet but close to the action is ideal for this particular trip!

I saw the headline (head lice?), but didn't see a list of properties. Cliffs?

searching... they are tight lipped on actual properties.

'Circus Circus Hotel, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort, The Palazzo, Tropicana Las Vegas, MGM Grand, and the Sahara Las Vegas'

that's whats been reported... Probably not property wide, but certainly room dependent.
most of those properties should not surprise anyone.

Thanks for the list!

The Rio not being on the list is somewhat surprising.

I am sure it's because RIO is closed as of now.
that list is active properties and reported incidents as of last week.

no Orleans on that list... maybe the list is 'Strip' only

posting for thread bump.

Have never actually thought of #1 in this context, albeit ‘distance from room to Strip’ is a small part of the decision

2, maybe I’ve been lucky but I’ve never had an issue with it. Albeit I guess I always stay in premium hotels.

3. Yep. I really missed having food options while staying at Vdara recently

I've never thought about #1, but I don't mind walking.

Never had an issue with #2, but I don't think that's a LV thing. I'd be disappointed with poor shower pressure anywhere. That being said, I wouldn't choose my hotel based on it.

#3 is the most important in that list, IMO.

Re water pressure: A friend told me he always travels with his own shower head that has a pre-regulation water flow restrictor.

guessing a guy that does that must have a long list of other slightly off kilter things he does too ?

You can tell a lot about the quality of a hotel by the quality of the toilet paper in the bathroom.

I love how much walking I do in vegas but I once had a room at the V which was the last room at the end of one of the wings and it was about 150 yards to the elevators and then obvs there was the walk through the resort to the Strip. Was a total PITA. Also meant that the maids rarely got down that far to service the room

to your point, it wouldn't make me reconsider the resort but I would ask for a different room next time

I love the rooms far from the elevator. Less foot traffic going by your room. For whatever reason, many people think it's socially acceptable to have loud conversations in hotel halls.
