Stop the presses.......
not to say there isn't creative accounting involved, but we're talking about 819 rooms and 104 suites, including a couple designed to be occupied by heads of state, being completely renovated without disrupting an active casino below.
likely phased floor-by-floor to maintain as many bookable rooms as possible, which extends the schedule and the budget.
they're also not using the type of materials ordered online by developers with a home depot reward card.

Obviously Uber to further locations like Wynn, Resorts world but walk to Paris/Ballys and maybe Bellagio or Caesar’s? I know it’ll be 100 out but maybe not that far to walk?

Probably looking at saving $400 or so vs a room poker rate (Bellagio, Wynn).
It's probably the better part of a mile walking. It's not just farther south on the Strip, it's east of the Strip by a fair amount.

Walked to/from Bellagio daily without any issues even though it obviously gets pretty warm. The walk to Horseshoe/Paris should be very convenient via Audrie St or through Planet Hollywood. Never actually went into Horseshoe from that direction but have walked to the Monorail Station right next to it.
Monorail might be a good solution, but it's not free. The station is located not real far from where the Signature walkways are, and iirc those walkways are mostly indoors?

Yes, they are all indoors but that's about the only thing. The station is not that close on either end so you will hardly save a lot of walking distance and probably not any time. And costs money ofc. I stayed at mgm sig last wsop but the rail was a waste of money essentially. It's good if you want to go to somewhere more north that is close to the rail.

Sorry, for clarification: I wasn't talking about actually taking the Monorail. Just that I know from experience that the station is a very quick walk from MGM Signature and right next door to the WSOP. Therefore the walk to the WSOP should be pretty easy if you can enter the convention center from the back.

There is a monorail station inside the MGM Grand and one inside the Horseshoe. It makes it a very easy commute from Signature to Wsop

If you really want to stay on the cheap, stay at the Oyo Hotel across from MGM which is also walking distance from the MGM station. Can't speak for the quality of the rooms there though.

Based on how long you walk from Signature to the MGM Grand casino floor, I highly doubt taking the monorail saves any time. Walkways and indoors is a plus though.

It is long enough a walk I would recommend stopping for lunch along the way.

Why would he go to the MGM casino if he's headed for the WSOP?

So a half hour to get ice that's half melted by the time you get it, maybe has some sneezes in it, and for all that the guy that brought it is going to expect a tip.

One trip to the Wynn I forgot my comb. I normally don't carry one. I went to the gift shop and bought a 50 cent made in china crappy comb for 7 dollars. No food court there, have to schlep to Venetian, etc, etc.
With all due respect, if you are staying at the Wynn and care about food courts and $7 combs, then you are doing it wrong.

The Wynn is overpriced. For everything. By any measure (price, value, etc.). No argument.

The people staying there don't care about price or value.

He suggested to take the Monorail from MGM to Horseshoe. I've never used the MGM Monorail stop but based on signage inside MGM it's located to the East of the casino floor.

If you haven’t already, join up for Caesars Rewards and then go into their website. All 4 of the above properties are Caesar’s and you’ll be able to compare and contrast pricing for them

My stay was a bit expensive (relatively) because I guess there were several conventions in town and hotels across the Strip were greatly inflated in price.

Not sure when you're going, but WSOP starts soon, so the rates might be inflated and I imagine the rooms will be booking fast (if they haven't already sold out).

Not too many food options at Horseshoe. Heard mixed things about the Jack Binion Steakhouse. Didn't try it. Tried M.Y. Asia, which is new. Was decent but a bit overpriced for portion sizes. Good options at Paris I believe. You're a relatively short walk to Venetian/Palazzo and they got many great options (about a 20-25 minute walk).

Right across the street from Bellagio (just take the pedestrian bridge across and make sure you get on the correct one. There's construction going on and it gets a bit confusing at first on how to get on the correct bridge).

Free parking if you're platinum or higher for Caesar's Rewards as well.

Edit: rooms were good, nothing fancy, but not rundown etc (though I stayed in a suite). Check-in was horrible. 4pm check-in. We went to the line around 3:50 pm and had to wait like 30 minutes. Super long line and it's only self serve kiosks to check-in. I think like ten of them, but several were out of order lol.
Thanks for the insights. I ended up booking 3 nights at the Linq for $239 all-in, including fees, with Caesars rewards... Seems damn good for this time of year.

Just two quick notes ...

I played poker at the Bellagio last night. My comment is on the casino and hotel crowds. It was a total traffic jam of people walking through the casino and hotel lobby area. Extremely crowded floor , with hordes of sightseers traveling in groups pf 5 or more without any outward indication they likely were there as gaming or casino customers. Not a pleasant experience, and I like the Bellagio generally.

I also went to Mandalay Bay, which was a far less crowded scene and the mix seemed more in tune with an actual casino customer demographic. A much better experience, with at least one live music venue playing for floor and general customer entertainment.

(I've stayed at each place in the past, and each had decent rooms, including the Four Seasons section in the Mandalay Bay building. There is a simple door connecting the Four Seasins ground floor lobbey with the Mandalay Bay portion of the building. The dining access and the pools at Mandalay Bay are more entertaining to use. )

Many times, it is quicker, more convenient than driving and monorail tickets are only $1 for locals.

The monorail station is not on the casino floor. In fact, it is right by the MGM Signature walkway entrance, so like I said it is an easy commute.

Thanks for the info.

$1 seems a good deal if someone is going from one of the further stops to say, the Convention Center for CES. If your parking at the MGM is comped, seems like a very good deal.

I stayed at Bally's then MGM Grand back-to-back twice last year and it worked out well. I just purchased the Monorail 4-day pass for $36 to save from using Uber. It only takes about 20 minutes from MGM Grand to Horseshoe. I even used it to get over to MGM grand for a couple dinner breaks to get away from the large poker crowds.

I did it because I had comps for both Caesars & MGM. Once I used up my Caesar's offer, I did an extra 4 day stay at MGM to use their comps they offered me to save $.

I was hoping to do this again this year, but MGM took away my Gold status match so I can't save on resort fees like I will be at the Horseshoe.

But if you do stay at the Wynn and want cheaper food, Fashion Show Mall is much closer than the Venetian and there's a food court on the top floor. It's doable on a tournament dinner break.

Some people stay there because they got cheap rooms on Wynn slot app.

There was a time when cheap Strip weekend rooms were unfindable at the last minute. Wynn, Bellagio, and Venetian poker rates were the cheapest I could find. I wasn't staying there because I was Mr Snooty.

I just looked at it on Google Maps. Depending on which tower you start from, walking distance from Signature to the Monorail Station next to Horseshoe is 0.5 to 0.6 miles. That's 7 to 8 minutes if you're a decently fast walker. I highly doubt it's faster to walk to the MGM Monorail station and take the train for one stop to get to the Horseshoe Monorail station. IIRC, it took me roughly 5 minutes to get from the Signature North tower to the MGM gym and pool entrance.

I would rather walk to the monorail station at MGM and ride the monorail to Horseshoe.

Just an FYI for anyone staying at Cosmo in June... they have a special going on daybeds. I recently switched out our Boulevard daybed ($475 for one day) for 4 daybeds at the Chelsea pool at $95 a day. I think the Boulevard daybeds are a $125 special, but they aren't in the pool whereas the Chelsea ones are. Not sure if you consider it cheap, but if you plan on having $95 in food or drinks while having a dedicated spot in the pool for a day, then it's pretty sweet (IMO).

And now that I look again it's $175 for the Boulevard and $125 for Chelsea for our dates. Obviously dates may differ.
