I'm not new to the forums I have been using this site on and off for years but never post. I'm heading out to vegas for a month or two today. I have found so much usefull information on this site so i'm gonna try and pay back a little and let you know how my trip goes.

So first of all alot of you recommend holiday royal as a cheap nice play to stay for an extended time. Off your information im going to check in there today and let you all know how that goes. I then plan on trying some of the 1/2 NL holdem games at osheas (since I read on here there are alot of drunk players there on the weekend). I'll let you know how the games are.

Also I have been looking online here and the web and found it hard to find a site with all the poker room promotions. It looks like you can make around 1000 dollars easy in promotions alone. Once I hit vegas i'll update with good promos I find.

I've been staying at the Holiday Royale for about 5 months now. It does the job.

I guess i'm too busy playing vs the weekend drunks at the Bellagio to venture over to play against the weekend drunks at O'sheas!

The few times ive stumbled into Osheas poker room when friends have been in town Im pretty sure its been $1/1 NL and iirc the avg buyin at the table was for sure less than $100... Yea people are bad/drunk there, but thats the case in all 1/2 games around, might as well play where theres some actual money to be won on the table imo and not everyone having 20bbs or whatever..

Also, idkkk about the "it looks like you can make are 1000 dollars easy in promotions alone" quote, never heard of this being common at all? Dont want to be a buzzkill here, but that just sounds unrealistic.. Maybe if you bink some promotional tourney or something, but generally (depending on where youre playing) youll get a max of $1/hour comps ($2/hr at aria, maybe elsewhere)..

I'm from san diego, didn't quit my job but I am unemployed for over a year. I previously did contracting after getting out of the military for over 3 years (kuwait, iraq, ect..). Did some traveling, came home got a job at fedex (which pays the bills but sucks), gained a bunch of weight, and spent time with family. Not a poker pro, maybe a small winner. Had a good run at the pokerstars 100/200 (limit) one week and literaly turned 2k into 40k =). I'm just looking to hang out in vegas, contribute a little to 2+2 get drunk everyday and figure out my next step which will be nursing school I think.

Just do not make the trip reports too long.

Are you going to stay there? Did you go there to move to Vegas? Good luck on the tables my friend. I want to move there really badly but something always holds me up. Plus I really need more money in the bank than I have for that. You can't be that bad if you ran 2K into 40K playing 100/200 LHE. Hope you run well out West.

And post pics. That always makes things more interesting.

I don't know about $1000 in promos but here's the ones I know of or have heard about: $100 freeplay reimbursement at Cosmo, $200 promo at Tropicana, the Press Your Luck Promo in front of Planet Hollywood, MGM Resorts and Caesars entertainment give I believe $5 in freeplay for new signups, Boyd properties (I think) have a $100 new sign up promo and station casinos gives a random amount for new signups that is between $3-$500.
