So if you are looking for a fun dining experience this is not the place to go to. But if you are looking for a quick bite to eat its fine i can also recommend earl sandwich at PH if you want something quick to go.
Capitale Grille i have not tried but im sure its good, i was outside looking at the menu(similar price range to other high end SH) since we were going out for stakes later that night but ended up going to SW instead which was absolutely perfect. Great food and the patio and the show from the lake of dreams made the whole experience great.
NO, guy, you need to re-read what *I* wrote where I said I'd namedrop great *CHEAP* restaraunts. Dailes and the Lux are both pretty great for the price...and that's the value I added...by not trying to list the top restaraunts, but listing good restaraunts per dollar and even adding high value tidbits about each restaraunt. And, in keeping with the OP's post, I threw out the name of a great restaraunt that wasn't cheap in the Capital Grille...in fact, I think that restaraunt is nationally recognized and a number of politicians and celebrities eat there...probably more so than the other restaraunts listed.

It's done up like an old gangster joint and you have to negotiate your way in which could help break the ice, once inside theres a sinatra impersonator singing and great food. Also there's usually a deal on groupon so that might help with the price.

Would you tell us more about the negotiating thing? The restaurant sounds interesting to me.

I recommend DKNY Jeans. They fit me perfectly. I realise that wasn't in the OP either, but it seems that isn't important when it comes to handing out recommendations.

What kind of host feels the need to attack an honest suggestion of ways to save people money in vegas? Are you so worried I'm going to hurt your business? Take down your streetcred about the Strip? I see why you are worried living in that house of cards you reside.
What is your problem with Jay? I think you're the one with issues or else how do you explain your response, that mentions Jay, in a thread Jay had not even posted in. As far as this thread goes, you attacked Jay first. Don't try to play the saint with us.

In this thread, the poster did not ask for cheap places with good food so Jay was right on topic with his suggestions.

Lots of politicians eating somewhere is a recommendation?

When you walk in the door you get a gangster talking guy pop his head out a window asking "wad do ya want.." After a few seconds of awkwardness he opens a secret door that leads into a plush restaurant. It's a fun place but your girlfriend mum will need a sense of humour

So in an exercise in demonstrating the above points, I mentioned some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas. Nowhere did I say this is the ENTIRE list. It's merely my favorites given his criteria.

I get it, you can't afford them and would rather eat at Denny's, you think Capital Grille and Ruth's Chris are the best steakhouses even though they're overpriced blah blah blah.

GO AWAY and let other people suggest things that hold some value to the people who asked the questions. Nobody gives a **** about your opinion. Now scurry back to your hole where your wife I'm sure is cowering and your kid is expecting the belt.
That is nice. Balla ITT. I agreed with the italicized and probably could have made a better point by just stopping there instead of looking like a douche.

My GF and I go to clubs here in Vegas that Jay frequents, you calling my gf a whore bro?

I think you should chill the **** out.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I suggested fantastic restaurants with ambiance, quality food, great wine lists, and unique dining experiences and you suggest that? Those will win her mother right over, especially when he's not concerned with budget. But hey you're right, he's over paying and he should probably just take them to Margaritaville or Hash House or Carnegie Deli...

I'll even throw Musashi, Firefly, RM Seafood, Twist, Mon Ami Gabi, CUT, Bouchon, Blue Ribbon, Jaleo, Chino Poblano, and Scarpetta into the suggestions.
I really like Jay's second suggestions here. A lot of these places are in The Cosmo which is a really beautiful hotel. Jaleo, Chino Pablano, Blue Ribbon, are not "break the bank" places to eat at all, yet will still be plenty impressive. These places also won't give off the impression you are overly trying to show off.

For this specific purpose I would suggest the Cafe Bellagio ($100-120 for three, incl tip):

1. It is adjacent to the Conservatory (the flower gardens).
2. It is only a few steps from the self park garage.
3. It is high-ambience.
4. The food and presentation are first-rate.
5. You will impress her mother.

note to thread participants - if the restaurant is open 24 hours a day, it isn't impressive or unique or fun or any other similar description

What BS. Restaurants differ. People have different levels of experience and taste.

What is there about a restaurant's operating hours that dictates whether or not it is impressive, unique, and/or fun? If you eat someplace in mid-afternoon, and the place happens to be open 24H, is there a sign that says, Warning! Restaurant is open 24H! Don't you dare have fun here! What a sweeping generalization.

I took my mother-in-law to the Bellagio Cafe during Chinese New Years, when the conservatory had the Chinese dragons, etc. on display, and she tells all her friends at the Henderson Senior Center about the experience and what a good son-in-law she has.

OTOH if you grind 2-5 at the B every day, then the B Cafe might well be mundane and boring to you.

There are plenty of crap 24H restaurants, to be sure. Avoid the 24/7 Cafe at the Palms, for example. The Coronado Cafe at South Point is impressive and fun (but not unique). The 24H Pho off of Spring Mountain and Valley View is unique, but neither impressive nor fun. Denny's and IHOP are neither unique nor impressive, but can be fun if you're with fun people.

If you're so jaded that a Vegas coffee shop meal is never fun for you, save your money and eat at McD's, or eat Spam out of a can.

People be mad jelly of Jay.

Musashi is pretty amazing for bachelor parties IMO.

That's the thing about food, its hard to prove someone is objectively wrong about a choice. But Jay wa pretty much 100% right!

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha @ your suggestions.

Back to the OP I actually had a similar experience last time I was in Vegas. I was meeting my girlfriends parents for the first time. We went to Le Cirque at the Bellagio. I would give it a try as there is a lot to look at and talk about to help with those awkward first meeting moments. Also the food is amazing and the wine list is great.

My suggestion is to first pump your girlfriend for information about how to make her mom have fun and enjoy the evening by asking what kind of food she would enjoy and what to stay away from. Apply that info. to the above suggestions. IMO, this is the best way to insure more pumping of the girlfriend later.
