Oh, yeah, I had forgotten that too is coming to Las Vegas in 2024. However, unlike the F 1 sh*tstorm, the SuperBowl does NOT generally shut down anything in town, is wildly popular and is wildly profitable, business as usual, for the Strip.

There will be some asks of the County, related to traffic control, because of the location this year, but no massive sucking up of public money.

In between F 1 and the Superbowl 2024, the traditional NFR will be in town in Dec 2023, a welcome annual event. As far as I know their only ask re traffic was to NOT crew it up by dismantling F1 items as that would screw with THEIR traffic flow.

I think you mentioned that people would be pissed and not come back. But even if that’s the case seems probable they are going to get a fresh supply of stunods the next year. This doesn’t appear to be a small fan base.

But we will see how it plays out.
I was referring specifically to the people who bought non refundable packages early on that are now worth maybe 20 percent of what they paid close to a year ago. Nobody is making that mistake again.

Yeah we can dance around this issue of the shirts being reduced 80% or whatever all day.

But we really don’t have to do that imo

At the end of the day there’s an annual event for next ten years that brings more people than the Super Bowl. It’s going to be like PartyPoker 2023 with money just flying around

Room rates are dropping.

(I'm going to ask the County for a copy of the agreement and this 10 year extension and look for early termination options, in case I am correct about ths being a prospective sh*t show.

When F1 came to Las Vegas about 40 yrs ago, there was no groundswell of outcry for its return. This new iteration seems a really poor sacrifice of the Strip and customer access, in favor of a questionable net marginal value claimed )

You seemingly do not grasp the public interest and value of easy accessibility to the Super Bowl event and the Strip.

Im saying there's a good chance the Superbowl absolutely stompts it and that's without all of the money needed to be spent for f1 and not needing a years worth of construction and a traffic nightmare.

Games at Venetian Sunday and Horseshoe Monday were very good. Employees I spoke with in 4 restaurants said they are expecting to be busy and make good money.

How did you figure that's pit in not pit out?

Since they race counter-clockwise and the pit building is on the South-East corner of the course wouldn't that mean it has to be the pit lane exit?

FWIW, speed limit in F1 pits is 80km/h.

They published the driving direction a long time ago, but I just mention it's a bit suspect as it's hard to tell what the actual apex of that turn will be for drivers relative to the designated pit out. It's somewhat tight, but then again it's a temporary street circuit so I guess that's to be expected.

From what I understand, there are going to be some support class test sessions tonight and tomorrow before f1 takes over on Thursday

What's the problem with it? You can see the line that exiting cars can't cross goes all the way around the corner.

At least I'm not the only person raising an eyebrow on the pit exit. In theory there should be a spotter there to signal if there's a slower car ahead.

Unless Vegas handles things differently than other races, there's a marshal who does the exact opposite: Wave a blue flag to cars exiting the pit lane if a faster car is approaching from behind.
