So I was just wondering what are the best ways for an out of stater looking to move there find a job before I move there. There's no way to just pack it up and move there that would be irresponsible.I live in the Dakotas up north and have basically had enough of this crap. It's time for a change but I haven't the first clue at landing a job down there.Anybody have any good sources or ideas? Or are they giving prefference to the locals due to the tanked economy?

What do you do? Have you any special skills? The OP is too general to get much real info.

Current business student, will be done soon.As far as work ive been dealing blackjack the last 3 years and don't want to do it anymore.Jobs, i'm looking for a wide variety, assuming I have to keep an open mind about the current job market down there, I hear it's terrible, I still want to move there.I'm sick of living in the tundra.Would be nice to find a better then average paying job to start, but at this point i'm thinking on just finding something to pay the bills and give me a lil coin to mess around at the casinos until I can get a professional job.If theres even jobs there, I don't know.So what i'm trying to find is an accurate source for job openings.

The way most people in your situation would find a job in las vegas would be to search the internet job/resume sites for openings in las vegas, and contact the employers via email. the big corporations take applications online.

here's the harrah's employment website

For fun, I did a search, and there are jobs here for sure. However, the problem is that you will be competing with hundreds (if not thousands) of people for a handfull of minimum wage jobs such as cage cashier.

I'm worried that I won't be able to get an internship (in order to graduate I need a gaming internship) and I'm willing to work for free!

If I were you, I'd stay where you are and be glad that you have a job

A lot of the casino employment websites tilt me, especially MGM's. 400-450 jobs and you can only apply to one. Have to wait the weeks (or months) for them to fill it before you can apply to another. If you withdraw an app to apply to a different one, you can't reapply to the first one ever. Maybe I am missing something obvious?

I'm up to about 160 job applications now. Pretty much all entry level, most minimum wage. I have yet to get a single interview. I have tried following up every single one. I suspect that most openings have so many people applying that 'qualify' that it's just a random crapshoot. I don't think I even qualify for entry level since I have been a stay-at-home father for the past 7 years. FML

DON'T MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU ARE TRANSFERRING TO A JOB AT JACK IN THE BOX, MCDONALDS, 7/11 OR ONE OF THE OTHER FINE FAST FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS.

Do you know what a 13% unemployment rate means??

Seriously do not move here thinking you will find " A job that will pay all the bills and give you a little extra coin to throw around the casinos!" It won't happen.

Your current choices for that would be to either sell drugs (not that theres anything wrong with that)

Or to suck dick on Fremont Street (again not that theres anything wrong with that lol)

There are a lot of Sales jobs here and not a lot of talent. It's been a struggle finding anyone worth hiring.

If you can sell you can easily get a job.
