Hey guys. I am not 100% sure how they work but on my first trip to LV in June I was told they take an estimate based on a few things, one of them being how much you sit down with...

Is this true? Because if it is I guess it would make sense to sit down with as much as you could regardless of how much you plan to bet per hand?

comps literally have nothing to do with how much you sit down with.

They look at your avg bet per hand and multiply it by your theoretical loss at the game per hour. Larger casinos have tracking software that reads you bet sizes via Chips in the chips. When the dealer swipes your players card it puts you in whatever spot you play and every hand they deal they hit a button, it's different depending on the casino but is based on your theoretical loss per hour your actual loss and buy in don't matter.

Cheers lads. Not sure why the pitboss in Ceasers always asked how much people were buying in for when they gave their loyalty card for then :s

They are trying to track actual wins/losses per player for multiple reasons, some of which has to do with comps. If you have a massive poor variance session you might could swing more comps than if you won or broke even but most of it comes from theo.

They are likely grading your skill level too. The higher your skill grade the lower your theo loss is. The number of players at the table also affects comps as slower games give fewer rewards.

For $100 chips and higher (or at least $500+) most casinos have them now. But I don't know of any that yet use a RFID reader at the table to record wagers. That technology is still cost prohibitive.

All the chips at Jackson rancherias in ca had them in 2003 they have a reader under every spot and the dealer clocks you in your seat with players card. I also know thunder valley has them in all chips. Any table that has a touch screen on the side of it where the dealer swipes your players cards is tracking all bets. The floor just asks to make sure the chips came from the tray, or to see if you brought them.

Several years ago they had a similar system at Eldorado in Reno. It was a giant hunk of machinery at the table that read cards and chips and did all the math. It wasn't using RFID though, just scanning the chips in the circle. It was all quite stupid and they don't have it anymore.

Seems like to have an RFID scanner you'd need something similar to the black box at the cashier, which would also be stupid.
