hey guys,

im planing on buying a car in las vegas, cos im staying two months in the US.
As a German I am used to have an insurance as a driver.
What kind of insurance do I need in Nevada? What can u recommend? And whats the pricedifference for <25years driver?

I have an extra car that I'm planning to sell in July. 4-door Buick sedan, about 60k original miles, the car spent most of its life in grandma's garage. The car runs and drives perfect, looks good and very dependable, I figure a fair selling price will be about $3,500.

I'm just over 40 years old, perfect driving record, insurance cost me about $360 per year. Registration, from memory, is like $200 per year, and in Vegas you have to get a yearly pollution check and this cost like $30?

When are you coming? I might just do a private rental for you, pay me a fair rental price and carry insurance on the car, simple.

Seems like insurance would sure be cheaper on a car that OP owns vs renting. Especially since he's going to sell it to a friend after when he leaves, so he won't take much of a hit.

I don't think the rental rates are double for less than 25 check with enterprise.com you're going to spend a ton of money and time doing this. can you find a place with good bus service? or maybe just pay a bit more for the hotel $40/night goes a long way in the summer

I can confirm UTR's car, while retro, is in excellent condition.

insurance, get LIABILITY ONLY... but yes, it needs to be Nevada specific insurance. many of the online players sell it. eSurance, Geico etc.

UTR is the first 2+2er I met in real life, he picked me up from the airport in that car. It's a great ride and he's probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet in LV.

Good luck trying to unload an Americans car. Look at the massive cluster of fubar GM ins in rightnow. Everyone of their car made from 2001 to 2012 is under recall.
