I straddle to $10 and both blinds limp. I look down at QQ and raise to $45. Only the tilting Russian in the BB calls. Flop is J74ssx and he checks. I cbet $100, he jams $700 effective and I call. Sure enough, his flush draw hits on the turn.

**** you and your invasion of Ukraine.

Busto the MGM 2-7 about 6 from the money. A couple of draws whiff and a couple of the villain’s draws get there and that’s all she wrote.

So, the question is now whether I chase the losses and try to save the trip at the Bellagio $5/$10 or do I go and get very very drunk on my last night at the pai gow tables?

The $5/$10 list at the Bellagio was long and very slow moving (despite 7 tables running) so instead went across to the Aria and played some late night $2/$5. (Plays much the same as the Bellagio $5/$10 as both are $1500 max buy-in games. Whilst it wasn’t the trip saver I hoped it would be, it was profitable.

Now I’m packed and checked out with 6 hours or so before i have to head to the airport. I’ll load up with coffee and then head back to my favourite room at The Wynn for a few hours of bluffiness before the journey home begins.

A little bit of rungood so far today. Not only has my flight been pushed back an hour giving me a bonus hour in LV, but I’ve flopped a couple of sets so far today……

The final trip report…… report?

Ran pretty poor for 6 days and then blessed on day 7. Unfortunately one food day did not make up for 6 not so great ones. The end result was that I lost almost exactly $2k at the tables. As I was in for $3050 in tourney buy-ins, it means I was approx $1k up at cash games. In truth, I lost at $1/$3 and won at $2/$5. As always, a couple of other observations on Vegas from the trip……

Planet Hollywood, whilst obviously a great location, has gone downhill a lot since I last stayed there. Housekeeping cleaned my room twice in a week, and one of those times, I had to call them to ask them to do so. My sink drain was blocked, the TV was on the fritz, the elevator doors wouldn’t close, and the curtains don’t block the daylight. The auto check in / check out terminals were all failing spectacularly too. I’m not saying I wouldn’t stay there again but the price would have to be compelling for me to do so.

Hosting the WSOP on the strip is super. No more cabs / rideshares back and forth to the Rio, much better food options within walking distance, and possible to get back to your room for a quick nap on dinner breaks if you’re staying at a host of mid-strip properties. Congratulations to the WSOP for running a smooth operation despite the multitude of challenges.

Cash games continue to be plentiful and encouraging throughout Vegas of course and the game remains very beatable at low to mid-stakes. My favourite top 4 rooms, in order, are Wynn, Resorts World, Bellagio, Aria. After that, I don’t think there’s much between the rest.

Mixed cash games….. mmm, still a way to go. It would seem as if the options are to play at South Point or The Orleans with the octogenarians and listen to stories of what it was like when Steve used to be a dealer dealing to Puggy and Sailor, or to play on the strip but with game variants I’ve never heard of, let alone able to play. What the **** is Drawmaha-dugi for example? Would have loved for Resorts World to have a standard 8, 10 or 12 game rotational mix, but alas, no dice. To all the locals reading this, if you want my money at the mixed games, stopping making up variants that nobody has played before. Just beat me at the games that are “standard”.

Circa is a great property downtown and does offer something different in that area. And talking of downtown, the Golden Nugget’s series continues to be well run, so thumbs up to them.

Air conditioning seemed to be especially variable across town. Bally’s have had their issues with it being too hot in their WSOP hall (makes a change from the arctic conditions in the Pavilion Room at the Rio), but the MGM poker tournament area was very cold. I swear my fingers were starting to numb. PH was too hot, Aria a little chilly. Again, the Wynn just seems to have it right.

Vegas was humming, especially across the weekend. Great to see it thriving again, especially after my last trip in November when it was depressingly quiet.

That’s about it for now everyone. Thanks for reading along, and for the good wishes. I wish you all rungood levels equivalent to those I enjoyed today at the Wynn.

Hopefully I’ll be back again soon and if so, I’ll make sure to update this thread once again.

Stay healthy out there everyone.

tx as always for the writing and effort! I really wish mixed games were more of a thing, I've never played any of them past the quarters in the living room level, but since nowhere in a thousand mil es spreads anything more dramatic than PLO, it's hard to seeing mixed games grow

If there is ever a eulogy of the Orleans poker room, this should be a part of it.

It's hard for them to fly these days totally got me.

If we’re lucky enough, it’ll be a repeat of the same event in 2019 when I finished day 1 with a top ten chip count after a day battling at the felt with Sean Deeb, Daniel Negreanu, Robbie Campbell, Matt Glantz, John Monette, Kane Kalas, Adam Owen, Frankie O’Dell and Nick Guagenti amongst others.

Probably the best way to guarantee you'll play with famous players - play games that most people hate.

ROFL, sounds like the seniors Daily Deepstack I played, except I got to hear a great number of extremely lame jokes.

Heading to Vegas to celebrate and we have 14 to 18 family and friends joining us to celebrate with him

Latest update is wife was laid off in August after 19 years in escrow, the high interest rates now have tanked the industry....we need this small vacation then she can start to look again

I had lost my job from merger 2 years ago after a 17 year stint and took me a year to find a new spot, so hopefully not that long for her

Looking forward to celebrating my son and some fun The boys are back in town. A live TR from Donk Dunc and Watbri; 9th - 22nd JuneThe boys are back in town.
