Going to Vegas in July and want to just get the live experience and play some low stake games.

Ideally I'd like to play for a couple hours and get a free buffet. Is that feasible? Is there one place I should go for the best shot?

Most places in my experience give $1 or $2 per hour play, credited onto your Players Card and you can then cash this in at most one property restaurants buffets etc. An hour or two isn't going to do it obv.

I guess a friendly floor here and there may have the power to grant more but unlikely at low stakes and not not just on general play.

Yoiu're going to have to play a long time for a free buffet. How much do you think they're making off rake?

For a few hours' play at the Orleans you could maybe get a 6-inch at Subway.

You won't get a free buffet playing a "couple" of hours of green chip BJ. You won't get more than a Snickers and a bottle of water playing 2-3 hours of poker.

The Mirage gives $2 an hour food comps for playing poker. Play 8 hours and you got yourself a pepperoni pizza at the adjacent CPK. Play 8.5 hours ($17) and you'll get a free togo box to fill up from Cravings, the Mirage Buffet you can walk back over to the Sportsbook and eat and you can get a togo cup for your soda for $2.

So the answer is: 8.5 hours at the Mirage for a free togo buffet. Hopefully 8.5 hours falls within your definition of "a couple of hours".

I would cancel your Vegas trip and go to Atlantic City instead.

There are some pretty solid off-strip lunch buffets for $8. Those should be attainable.

I know you get a $10 voucher for 4 hours play at the Golden Nugget, but the lunch buffet is $12 there.
