BARGE 2015 BARGE 2015

For those who will be in Las Vegas at the end of July, consider coming to BARGE, held at Binion's from July 27th - August 1st. It is by far imho the most fun you can have as a poker player. As one of my good friends says, "There are no strangers at BARGE, just friends you haven't met yet."

Looks like a great schedule. You'll probably get me for some this year.

I've never been to BARGE but I assume that there will be cash games from the 25-game mix?

Definitely. We usually play a 3/6 or 4/8 dealer's choice. There will also be 1/2 Binglaha, (played pot-limit), Chowaha, and many, many others.

How to play the games? We're friendly and will explain them.

So am I correct in assuming you can only buy into the tournaments in advance and can't do so at the casino?

No, we gave up on rec.gambling.poker years ago. We have our own email list (actually, lists). My understanding is Usenet still exists but it's of little practical use.

For BARGE, we do need people to register in advance. If there are open seats it is possible (but definitely not guaranteed) to get in at the casino.

Heh, maybe in 20 or 30 years you can set up a vbb forum.

Listservs are at least good for wasting time at work though. People often can't surf forums but email usually gets through.

I can't make it this year, but have attended EMBARGO and can tell anyone concerned that it's an extremely friendly group playing ridiculously fun games...if you want to stretch your mind a bit with some wacky games.

They are very patient at explaining games and love new bloo..players

I'm also wondering if people who aren't registering for any tournaments can play the cash games, and how much is the rake.

The cash games will start on Monday, but there will be more and more of us as the week progresses. We generally play low-limit mix games ($3/$6, $4/8), some Chinese Poker (all kinds), and various other games such as a baby PLO and Binglaha. So me of us want to get a $6/12 OE game going. Binion's will generally spread anything we want.

I don't know Binion's rake off the top of my head, but it's probably $4 a hand at 5% or 10%. There are comps ($2/hr, by memory).

The cash games are open to anyone except for the games on Saturday night after our banquet.

Assuming Binion's is raking the same for BARGE as it does for regular games, it is 10% up to $4. The $2/hr in food comps is correct.
