The El Cortez Hotel Casino Resort and Spa will be closing its "room" on December 30th 2013. Employees were notified last week and offered other spots in the casino.

I played the 1-3-6 limit game a few years back and had a fun degenerate time along with the other total degens in the game.

I wonder what Jackie will do now?

I played there just for a laugh one time and Jackie must have burned through 4 buy ins in only an hour. Every time he would pull out money to buy more chips, the floor would walk over and say "your money is no good here Jackie" and hand him a full rack of $1 chips.

Must be nice to be on a lifetime freeroll in a poker room

Well, i was in silver sevens née terribles the other day and they appear to have a new poker room (unless its been here this whole time and ie never noticed it). granted, it isnt geographically close, but it has the same flop house ambiance.

I'm actually sorry to hear this. I only went there once, a few years ago, and while the poker room and game were unremarkable, the food service was incredible! I've wanted to go back just to order the sandwiches again, hoping that they would have the same great service.

The sandwich was pushed to me on a table covered with a real tablecloth, with cloth napkin, real cutlery and plates, a side of coleslaw, pickles, I forget what else.

I've never seen anything like it short of when I was a 7-Star in A.C.

The V's service comes with a cart... table cloth... and silverware.

But then again, the Venetian is no El Cortez.

Played my first hand of poker ever there. Sucked out with a gutshot straight. A guy bet into me and I Asked the dealer "can I raise?" Lol. Guy got mad and folded.
