since airfare has shot through the roof it is looking like its going to cost about 1150 to 1200 to fly me and my wife to vegas this summer from new york..this is not cool at all and i cant stand checking every site for the best deals every day anymore especially since i havent come across any good deals at all..

So with this post i was trying to see if i could get anyone to post links of any booking deals they recieve as i have seen a few already in a few posts but they r expired at this time..

I am also not sure if i am violating any 2plus2 rules so if i am lock it up and if im not post some links to for deals to get to vegas

there are still some decent hotel/flight combos out there. just google vegas hotel and flight.

or if you wanna book separate, kayak.com searches all airlines

i know i checked all sites im just sayin that sometimes airlines or these sites will email people with deals and it that does happen that said person could post the link on this page.. it would be a great way to find one of those one or two day deals just by checkin on here than checking all the sites daily

Have you even checked southwest.com? I just did a random sampling and August 23-27 would cost you no more than ~600 total. Most other times you can do it for ~800 unless you're choosing to fly absolute peak times.

Just for ****s and giggles I kayaked Memorial Day weekend and you can even do THAT from NYC for ~1000. July 4th weekend itself is also less than your prices. How the hell can you not beat 1200 when your time of travel is "this summer?"

And cheaptickets.com and kayak.com both search damn near every site you have probably been checking on their own minus Southwest. Since Southwest has a massive hub in Vegas they are often near the cheapest too. Stop wasting your time.

Southwest is great for short flights and/or saving money. You have to know what you're getting yourself into though and set your expectations accordingly. But if you're flying from LA or Phoenix to Vegas for example, you'd be an absolute fool to not at least strongly consider Southwest. It's a trade-off between their BS and the ridiculous convenience + lower cost that they offer.

I have flown nothing but Southwest domestically the last 5 years and of the 50 or so flights I have been late MAYBE 3 times. I may be running ridiculously good, and these are usually short flights, but they are just fine for me.

And ffs what other domestic airline is anything but a PITA? Aren't they all equally below average?

thanksfor the info but i have checked southwest also and its a lil bit cheaper but all the flights are connecting..i want a nonstop..all nonstop flights from ny to vegas are 560 round trip or better after taxes andfees..soif anyone could show me a flight for 2 under a 1000 for the dates ofjul 25 to the 29th or 24th to the 28th or anything during that week id be happy but also shocked...last year at the same time it was 800 for 2 round trip nonstop..

And for the person who said to wait till 5/6 weeks before, r u really expecting a price drop..i mean theworld is prety f'ed up right now and up seems the only way prices have gone ove rthe last year. I would really like to not go over 1000 for airfair..its just the point , i know im goin to vegas to gamble and all but where does it stop i feel like i should be able to fly to australia for 600

Southwest always has great prices and tons of departure times to choose from, which is why I like them. They recently had some trouble with cracked cabins (check the news) and a lot of prices have dropped. I just booked roundtrip/nonstop airfare from chicago to vegas for like $350 including tax.

Airfare is expensive now-days, especially with the high price of oil(prob will just get worse over the summer). Book early and or try looking for some airfare specials on one of the many mass travel sites. (expedia/priceline/travelocity/ect.)

You are confirmed delusional. At Kayak.com, when flying to Vegas on the 24th and back on the 28th, you can find tickets for:

1) $412.80, taxes and fees included, from JFK to LAS (one stop; night layover in Minnesota)
2) $458.20, taxes and fees included, from La Guardia to LAS (one stop)

By my math, that's either $825.60 or $916.40, which is at the very least a $283 savings from your $1,200. If flying direct is worth that much to you, then you shouldn't be bitching about having to pay $1,200 for flights.

Trying to figure out what your point is. Is it that you won't fly Southwest because of the cracked cabin thing? Guess you'll have to go ahead and rule out every other airline too since it ain't like Southwest's alone in having problems, and they're still better than the industry in that regard.

Go ahead and count your recent incidents [sic]. Still a better record than any other airline that flies that kind of mileage.

Dear Spurious,

Please stop asking to fly on our planes. We will not accept your requests any more.

Yours sincerely,

What kind of BS does Southwest have? Best rates, more departure times, easy terminal access and almost always on time. My only complaint is that i can't get a red-eye back to the east coast so i usually fly back with Delta. Love sleeping on the red-eye for some reason lol.

You guys are both delusional, flying is ridiculously cheap. Prices could double overnight and it would still be reasonable.

Most of you guys just aren't old enough to know what it was like in the 70's and 80's when air travel was a tremendous luxury only used by businesses, the wealthy, or a special occasion.

If you think it's so expensive, figure the cost of driving to your destination using the standard mileage rate and hotel expenses if necessary. Not to mention to time saved by flying.

This. It's like bitching about the cost of business class. You pay more for luxury. And I did show you, OP, where you can save 500 bucks. Southwest will get you there round trip in late August for ~600 total. Not each.
