Hi all,

Would like some advice on this! I went to Vegas last summer with my buddy and my mom had a time share out there (right behind the Venetian) which was only a 5 min walk to the strip. I plan on going either in September or October but unfortunately will not get to use the time share.

My questions are: If I go for 5-7 days where would be an ideal place for a young year old to stay at? Given my budget for the whole trip would be ~$2,000 (including plane ticket, hotel, food, poker bankroll for the trip).

Also, I know this topic has been hammered and hammered I'm sure but what are the 1-2 and 1-3 games like during the day time in early fall compared to summer?

I would love to try the Wynn's new room with a max BI of $500

Thank you all so much. I'll take any advice I can get

5-7 days is an awful long time on that budget.

Can anyone answer the question?

They suck in the daytime no matter what time of year it is. You'll have 1-2 rec pros, 1-2 talkers, 2-3 OMC types and 1-2 faceless players that are gone for 55/60 minutes of their hour with a stack on the table.

I've done Vegas solo a few times so let me try to help you out.

Your budget is quite small, so I'd strongly suggest you forget about 7 days, and cut it down to 5 days, specifically Sunday-Thursday, as the weekend rates are going to crush you.

Then you need a super budget-friendly Hotel that isn't a hell hole. If you want to stay on the strip, that kind of restricts you to the Stratosphere or Circus Circus. Not the end of the world, and the Strat will have some soft 1-2 and you can walk down to the Wynn so you can at least smell the opulence.

Also from there, you're in walking distance of a McDonalds, the Peppermill diner (huge portions, unhealthy but good for budget) and if you can stretch a bit further you can hit up the Cafe Grand Lux at Palazzo.

I've only been to Vegas during WSOP, so can't help you on the quality of low-limit games, but I'm sure they're fine.

Good luck.

I don't think you quite have to stay at the Strat and eat McDs everyday. Look at Hooters, Excalibur, maybe Harrahs. You really don't want to walk from Wynn to Strat in the middle of the night (unless things have changed in the last few years).
Best tip is to grind and make sure you win $.

Im afraid your budget is too low. Hotel and food averages about 100-150$ a day, depending on where you stay. Then you have transportation and fligths, and then you are down to 1-2 buyins at $1-2.

My last stay (march) i stayed at Ballys for about 75 a night (including resortfee) and then vdara for about 180 a night, including resortfee.

I would rather save 1,5k more and go in november, early december when rates are decent and you will enjoy it more.

What about Airbnb? I've only done it once, but that only cost me $40/night. I had a car though. But I imagine costs would be somewhat similar to ubering everywhere given that most hotels are charging for parking now.

Some people would be too lazy to walk from Stratosphere to Wynn. And if you want to go to Venetian, Caesars Palace, etc. you'll have to walk even further.

Meh, we're just all spoilt FOBs. I've never done it, but assuming you come from the US, I'm sure you can get airfare, some cheap hotel like silver sevens, food courts and uber/lyft into like 1k for 7 days with no problem. It wont be a luxury vacation, but decent enough, you're there for the pokerz, right?
That leaves you a somewhat solid BR of 1k for 1/2. Just stay away from clubbing, expensive food, pits, hookers and drugs. Booking plane and hotel together can also save $

OP,a big part of your problem is going to be resort fees of $30-$35 a night. That could be over $200 before even paying for a room. You'll have to make a choice, like everyone else said, of staying on the Strip in a casino hotel but for a much shorter stay, or off Strip in a nondescript motel without resort fees. Not places like Sevens, that's too far of a walk.

Personally, I wouldn't like the idea of spending lots of money for lodging and not having enough left over to play. Sort of defeats the purpose of the trip.

This is super easy to do, but after 5 days you probably will want to go home.

Put your whole roll on Roulette the first night and if you double up you're good. If not well maybe go grind poker with what is left. Good luck

If you don't already have one, make sure to get a player's card and then consider restricting your play to just one or two card rooms to maximize your "rewards" (e.g. the Venetian). The player's card will usually give you around $1/hr for your play. So after a day or two you will have enough for a pretty good meal at the Grand Luxe. That clearly won't shift the budget a lot, but on a short budget everything/anything helps.

Weekdays at Linq/Harrah's are about 70 inc fees. From a $$ POV the only downside is there's no coffee/fridge in the rooms. I've stayed in both, they're clean, fine, non-descript. Harrah's and Flamingo next door have 1/3, daytime traffic limited. It's centrally located so you can walk to any room on the strip, maybe 30 min to Encore, 20 to Bell in other direction.

This is totally not the baller thing, but there's a Walgreens(?) with a mini grocery nearby. You can grab fruit, pitas and hummus, etc for relatively cheap. For me the idea of 3 big cooked meals a day is way too much, so I could take care of breakfast and lunch with groceries, and do what I wanted for dinner.

Many of us love solo Vegas trips. You might want to keep a TR, it can alleviate the loneliness as you'll get some LVL love after the inevitable bad beat in a daily donkament that you will tell yourself you won't play cuz the rake is outrageous, but you end up regging for anyway.

I'm going solo next week as well and coincidentally I just booked both Harrah's and The Linq through TotalRewards lol.

Harrah's was only $21.25 for Monday, but with fees and taxes, it comes out to $58.11.

The Linq was only $33.15 for Tuesday, but with fees and taxes, $71.60!

These taxes and resort fees and taxes on fees are so ridic.

You should just consider the inclusive price as the normal price. The price w/o taxes and fees is just clickbait
